So WTF is the text box? I see no text box

Hmmm - it appears from your snip that the ribbon with all the text commands etc. at the top of the text box is not showing. Reload AFF or reboot your device, perhaps?

Has been no diff to this since mongrel new site went live - reboot every day - log out and back in often - NFI - this is AFF as I know it.

Maybe your default editor is set to bb code rather than WYSIWYG.

At some stage you turned off the "rich text editor", presumably by clicking this button:



Or in your preferences here:



I have now re-enabled the rich text editor for you, but in the future you should get in touch with support if you are having troubles. Also, if you accidentally hit that button again, there should be some text at the bottom allowing you to re-enable it, provided you haven't turned it off in your preferences.
