When does a Premium Benefit, like priority boarding, stop being a benefit?

I think the SYD setup is poorly designed. Great in theory, but I’ve stood back dozens of times watching it, people just don’t get it. It appears to be the entry to the general boarding lane via the internal gate area throws alot off.

They called PB last week in SYD. I stood back and watched about 20 people just line up who were not eligible. Why are people so dumb in airports.

VA could put some codes on the BP like JQ are famous for.

However, I would not bother as I do not believe YX is the issue, it is fake status...

I think this will make more confused passengers joining PB queues, only to be turned away. PB must be clearly spelled out on boarding passes, or they need to have boarding groups (again, clearly and dominantly shown on boarding passes). It is doable, but some usability testing needs to be done to minimise ineligible passengers joining priority boarding lines.

From the rabid frenzy that occurs around here every time a DSC promotion is announced, it is fake status which is the real problem. Family pooling of SC is also a problem on this side of the fence....

When was the last time VA offered double SC to all?

Just board the YX via General Boarding as the first group called. Then call the families/general boarding etc..Just call it ‘Early Boarding’.

there was one in around june/july for bookings through corporate booking travel agents (2nd year in a row)

i believe normal bookings on the virgin site still got the DSC

Maybe they were Qantas Frequent Flyers, and just not use to flying an airline like VA which polices its priority boarding!?

The last 4 times I’ve been through MEL the Premium exit has been closed, is this a regular occurrence or am I just unlucky?
I haven’t seen any signs advertising opening and closing times so I’d be interested to hear how often it is open

Might be the time of year perhaps? I’ve asked once why it was closed (this was last year mind you) and they said they closed it during quiet times and rostered breaks where there was less flights...

No one manning the PB line at CBR this evening. As soon as we entered the PB line though we were waved up to the front of the general queue.
