I booked two seats in May using my QFF points to travel YUL-JFK on AA. Total +++ charges were USD$65. This still hasn't hit my CC yet, will they wait until we travel or have they forgotten about us? Also, does the charge appear as QF, or as AA directly?

Thanks guys,

The charge should come through eventually. Unlikely to be missed, but possible!

I believe the charge will come from the American Qantas office in $US. Something like:
QANTAS DPS ONLINE FF BOOKINGS QANTAS D

I made a US FF booking (flying BA JFK-LHR) in late June and the charge came through just about straight away. Was ~$450 not $80 though.

US Domestic/US-CA flights do not attract any fuel fines due, I believe, to the US not allowing fuel fines to be charged separately but having to be included into base fare, so no need to worry about any fuel fines coming later

Sometimes it can take a few months for the charges to be processed. The charge will be from a QF related subsidiary not AA.

Thanks guys. At USD$65 I'm hardly concerned but with the USD going down, down, down, I'd be a little more concerned if it was USD$500+.

Its like a QF Interst Free Period. ;)

Just an update on this, we're now three weeks out from travelling and the charges still haven't appeared and I'm pretty sure that an e-ticket hasn't been issued yet either. Should I be concerned?

I can still see the booking and the segment still shows as an info segment in our QF itineraries as well as a separate PNR. I just want to avoid turning up at YUL and being told woops, there's no ticket issued so you're not going anywhere.

I would be concerned

I booked a LAX-BNE ticket and charges came out in US$ and my cc was debited within 2 days and I had eticket later that night

Why don't you phone AA and ask them whether there is a ticket number in the booking?

Yeah, the points were deducted immediately, the taxes just haven't been charged yet.

Thanks Dave, I'll do that. I logged onto checkmytrip and could see the E-Ticket numbers for our BNE-SYD-LAX-JFK return flights but when I did the same for the YUL-JFK segment, there was no e-ticket listed. I think I'll give AA a ring.

Which number should I use considering I have no AA status etc?

I've never booked an Award before so do we get an itinerary/e-ticket the same as if we book a ticket over the QF website?

You should already have a sabre PNR number. This can be used on AA.com to check your flights in general and select seats on AA flights.

Other than that, do you have a ticket number?

If so, this can be plugged into LAN's e-ticket print facility: LAN.com Imprima su e-ticket

I'm pretty sure you're meant to. I've only redeemed points on QF flights though so not sure what happens on partners but I think it'd be the same.

Thanks Dave, I'll leave it until the morning and try and avoid AA India. ;)

Thanks Serfty, I do have both the Sabre PNR number (extracted from Checkmytrip) and the Amadeus number which appears separately in my QF My Bookings page. It looks like the booking if just being held, rather than ticketed.

I put the Sabre and Amadeus PNR's into the LAN website but got back warning messages for Sabre that said:
The passenger last name must match the one on the reservation
and for the Amadeus that said:
No tickets found.

Interestingly and on a completely separate note, the AA website shows us as being seated in 3B & 3C whilst the QF website and Checkmytrip has us seated in 3A and 7C. This is the least of my concerns but seems a little unusual. At the moment I'll be happy to have a seat and not be clinging to the upper deck of the EMB. ;)

Well some good news, I spoke to AA and they advised that whilst I had a confirmed booking, it wasn't ticketed as yet. They advised I should ring QF to chase this up with them as they will issue the ticket on behalf of AA.

A call to Qantas and I had the best CSA I could expect to get. Apart from sorting out my other problems where my travel partner was moved from her pre-allocated seat next to me to twelve rows behind, (and the Seat Map closed) she also mentioned that QF don't normally ticket Award bookings departing from an overseas country until about a week prior to departure. (i'm not sure how true this is though) She told me she would put a rush on this though so it would be ticketed prior to us leaving Australia.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

I think this is malarky. They definately do ticket earlier at times - it's just that the bookings sit in a queue to be processed, and they aren't going to processs a booking for 3 months away when there is one 2 weeks away to be processed.

PS - I've chatted to the Dallas AA Call centre a few times in the last month or so, and find them to be wonderful and very helpful. Even their automated system where you tell the computer what you are calling about works pretty well.

I had a feeling this might have been wishwash Mal, we're talking a booking made 6 months ago so I think it was forgotten. (which is fine based on the strength of the USD for the taxes ATM. :p ;) :D )

Thanks Mal, unfortunately by ringing the Aus freecall number, I got diverted to AA India. They were fine for telling me a booking but were no good for starting to book segments on a DONE4. I was asked to ring back about an hour later to speak to the person who exclusively looks after booking RTW travel. When I did, after waiting in a queue for 15 minutes and then asking to speak to the person, I was hung up on. :?:

So with your suggestions as well, I'm definitely going to invest some money in a call to the US for future dealings.

But all in all, a good outcome (or at least when the eticket turns up ;) ) and the fantastic customer service from the QF CSA made up for it. :p

A great investment (or skype!) if you're hoping to accomplish a DONE4 booking unless you're a masochis_. ;)
The ATW desk can be reached directly at +18002473247; for best results call on a weekday around midnight AEST (which is a weekday morning for them when they have the best AAgents).

Just a quick follow up, we had out e-tickets issued yesterday morning so I can rest a little easier now. Thanks to everyone for their advice. :p
