Booking through Emirate you can include Skywards or a Partner Loyalty Program. Is it better to use Skywards or Partner Airline Qantas as part of the booking?

Emirates points expire.
If you'll be flying Emirates a lot soon, then they could be worth it.
Qantas points dont expire (however, there is a limit to the number of expensive toasters you'll need).

I'm not a status expert, but if you'd probably be better off increasing QF status if that's an option.

{Others will probably have better answers!}

What frequent flyer programs are you a member of now?
Joining a new ffp where you get few ff miles that may not be able to be used before they expire is poor value.
Better to earn someting that may be able to be used.
A guide to EK ff partners->Where to Credit | Where to Credit Emirates Flights

QF ff points expire if you do not have eligible activity in 18 months. But eligible activity is easy to achieve in AU.
EK points have a hard expiry. Use them or lose them

And welcome to AFF !

Booking direct with EK won’t give QF SCs (but you do earn miles). Flights must be booked with a QF code to earn SCs.

United and Emirates are about to launch a partnership. That could be an alternative (depending on what the final arrangements are). UA points don’t expire but are a bit harder to earn on the ground in Oz. Flying VA and any *A alliance (depending on base fare) should earn UA miles also.

You only get SCs if on a QF ticket.

FWIW: remember that you can use EK points to book QF domestic flights. In our experience, the availability of FF in J flights booked on QF metal through EK is much better than trying to book FF flights through QF. No idea why this would be the case.

If you book EK and include QF FF No. then you must ante up $s for WiFi - even in F - staggering given cost of F

Thank you all for your comments. I must admit the airlines make their FF programs difficult to navigate. Mwenenzi, I am a member of both Emirate and Qantas so in my Emirates booking I added Qantas rather than Emirates as I would intend flying within Oz more than OS.
