What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

I was going to transfer some AUD over to the UK for getting a mortgage going, but have decided to hold off and see what happens. Put it into a term deposit in AU earning 5.3% for the next 90 days, reassess then:!:

Watched "Landline" today - the predictions of a group of top economists from institutions such as Morgan Stanley for the AUD/USD by year's end ranged from 90c to $1.09. The commentator noted that between them they had more degrees than a compass and all had access to the same information but they came up with such widely divergent predictions.

So why are there so many masochists using crystal ball gazing just to prove they too don't have a clue?????

Because they're being paid big biccys to do so. Occasionally they get it right and the people paying them make a heap of money.

After the elections in Europe over the weekend, as expected the Euro has tanked and forex traders are moving their cash into US dollars. Don't know how much the Aussie will drop, but as usual there will some good news and it will rise again.

Hehehe...Are you suggesting correlation between rate and girth?
Could well be right.

Got a good rate on foreign exchange early on and paid all accommodation up front and then towards then end it started to drop. Back now so would expect AUD to rise again until next trip in July.

P.S I put on ~6kgs in 12 days which may or not have been a direct result of benefiting from the good exchange rate! ;)

Intraday low so far of 1.0035...

Maybe it'll dip below parity later tonight if more bad news comes out of europe...

Not sure about Europe, but Unemployment dropped in April and it's risen by ¾¢ this morning ...

I hope that's temporary and the AUD will head south. (lower the better, for me.) Currently at 1.0079.

First time it has fallen below parity in 5 months.

Not good but hoping it will bounce back quickly....

Greek Tragedy to play out over the next few weeks. It looks like they will have to start the New Drachma as the world has had enough.
China is stimulating their banking system.
Aussie could go anywhere so I bought.
