Well, it's that time of year again. Silly season is almost over (work wise); may the drinks flow freely once again. As far drinks go, l'm starting to get over beer + red wine, so l spoke to my brother (who did bar-tending while at Uni) for some fresh inspiration.

Well wouldn't you know it, my father goes O/S and comes back with 1L of Hendrick's GIN.

I'm looking forward to icy cold Harbin Draught Beer once in mainland China. Searched high and low in Au and have never found it.

This holiday season i looked through my cellar and decided to make it a 1986 Christmas.So far it has been a Lindeman's Hunter River burgundy Bin 7205,a Saxonvale Bin 1 Cabernet-both great.
To come are a Lindeman's Coonawarra,Henscke's Hill of Grace,Penfold's bin707,And a St. Henri.

Swoon!!! What a collection drron!

We'll just be having some nice Oz sparkling (I know some here consider that an oxymoron, but I am quite happy with the better fizzes produced locally, though Madame Bollinger's product, and the Taittinger get a good run when I'm in a Flounge ;)), and for dessert something a tad different. Was out to dinner not long ago and someone produced a Spanish Pedro Ximenes sherry...'twas like plum pudding in a glass, very luscious, so I have bought a bottle, not really knowing what it will turn out like (the one at the dinner was actually purchased about 6 years ago, and would have been difficult if not impossible to find). And a bit of nice red/white in-between!
 
I don't drink wine so that's out. Will start with a bottle of 2000 Dom Perignon while preparing the turkey ham and roast potatoes. In the afternoon while lazing in the pool will have a couple of Vodka Martini's. Later in the evening as the sun goes down will move on to Heineken Import.
 
I have 2 mini kegs in the bar fridge. Heinken and lowenbrau, plus a few random stubbies. That make a good start. Followed by some reds The Vicar at least, maybe a Bin 389. A Moet in there somewhere. Plus some cherry vodka if The wife's cousins are stupid enough to join me. Or maybe a single malt, I have a few available.

I have looked at the Heineken Keg at the store but I have never tried it, I have always opted for the bottles instead. I can taste the difference between Heineken brewed here in Australia and the imported stuff. Is the keg nice? Does it go flat after a while? Might have to try it.

Picked up a bottle of Remy Martin XO on the way back. Had to get it while on the CX flight since we cannot take duty free alcohol on board. Still works out 20% cheaper than Sydney duty free.
 
We'll take some kind of champers to brekkie. FIL I think has some Mumm for lunch. Not sure about dinner, if it's champers, I'll be mostly drinking alone ... but maybe that's not a bad thing when we're talking the French stuff. ;)
