Hi everyone,

I am curious to know what jobs you all have that requires you to travel, either frequently or infrequently, domestic and international.

I am project manger that travels only locally, and can vary in frequency a great deal, but enjoy it all, even if it is domestic. :)

I don't know if this is an appropriate question and I doubt whether you will receive any replies to your question. It does not matter what the contributors to these forums do for a living, the main thing is the huge amount of knowledge on travel that they provide.

Some people travel, claim expenses, claim taxes etc, but not report it for reasons they do not wish to disclose, and I suspect the same goes for their occupation. Everyone is equal on this forum mainly because they only want to share their knowledge (or lack of it) with others.

Maca44,

I appreciate your feedback, however my intention/curiosity was simply about what roles require such traveling not what Mr X does for a crust. The industry I work in doen't usaually see much travel, so it is interesting so know what other industries do.

I do take your point however that the forum is about helping each other with travel info, and I hope it stays that way as I have found it to be enormously helpful.

My job hasn't changed yet from my post in the older thread, but we are at the beginning of a restructure that will see my role change into another (less travel-centric) over the next 2 years. If that course holds true, my flying will decrease.

Yes, I'd say 2006 will be my last year of Plat, so 2007 will be Gold. I hope I can hold at that level, but will be dependent on our restructure and how having a family (hopefully) will affect my travel.

I am GM of the Australian branch of a US-based company that manufactures specialised building products. I travel domestically to see our sales reps in each state and internationally to Asia and the USA for conferences and meetings, and to get updates on new products.

still an innovation consultant.. :)

Got an idea for internet use? I can make it happen

That will be a major problem.

You can no longer go by the handle QF WP on ft you will have to change to QF SG and your posting count will reset. :D

Actually, because I was christened by others on FT (who also post here) with the name, it'll stick.

Maybe I should change my name here to QF WP?? That might be enough to start a thread :p

Then there will be no competition for the race to 2000 :p .

I don't think it's your profession that brings in the travel, but the context in which you work (and play).

I'm a lawyer. Some years I travel a lot, depending on whether I am dealing with a client with interstate offices, or whether the person suing them is doing so in an interstate forum. Other years all my work is based in CBR and I sink back to silver.

I also have a sister in the US, whom I try to visit at least twice a year, and take the opportunity to visit friends in other States while I'm over there. So I can rack up a fair few points and SCs on those visits - though both of next year's trips have already been paid for on points.

I'm part of the international conspiracy of Zionist Atlantian Lizard People.

We are manipulating you mehums (MEre HUMans) so we can foil the plans of the Goat People of Mumu to bring down our global cabal.

So I travel - a lot. As Primus Illuminatus, these days I travel in J for all international (and some long domestic) flights.

Pacific Region Sales & Marketing Manager for a US-based publisher. Did a stack of travel around Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia and of course requisite trips to the head office in Chicago. Got me WAY past Platinum for a good few years.

Had a real break from travel for the past year or so, working in a State-focused role.

BAD MOVE.

Likely I'll be hitting the road/ sky/ etc again shortly.....

So what happened? You got retrenched, or have you been forgetting to take your pills?
