Hello

I'm about to book through to Perth for later June. I'm generally an east coast guy so Perth is out of my usual orbit and while I'd like to rest my weary bones in J I am self employed and resent paying the full J fare. If any of the regular east west ppl could give me the heads up on the two following questions I'd be happy to buy you a drink next time I'm in the lounge. No wait .... they're free. Still, I'd go and get them for you while you kick back in VA's unergonomic lounge chairs. After all, it's the thought that counts.

(a) what's the introductory upgrade me $ figure for a MEL - PER flight off a saver fare ?
(b) off a flexi fare ?

Thanking you very much

Ben

It would appear not many have this experience. I have only ever booked rewards on this route since the introduction of upgrade me.

Not a regular coast-to-coast flyer LOL, but we did fly PER-MEL-OOL return in early March this year. Bought flexi fares both ways, received an Upgrade Me offer email about two weeks out with minimum bids for the PER-MEL and MEL-PER legs of $300. That minimum bid remained the same right up to the flight dates, didn't come down at all. We didn't bid as even if we'd managed to win with the minimum bid, it would have cost us an extra $1200 just for those legs, just not worth it.

I have a MEL->PER coming up (as part of a of LAX->PER booking), minimum bid offer is $300. Consistent with what I've seen before, but they do seem to vary from flight to flight for some reason only known to Virgin (or could be my bad memory). I've never seen a minimum offer change for the same booking however.
