I flew with 11 pax total in a BI 767-300 AKL-BWN in November 4 years ago - and that was an interesting flight, especially when it came to meal service and drinks. Also a shock was they sat another one of the PAX right next to me by the windows in the 2-3-2 configuration. I also booked my flights only two days prior to that flight. Most BI flights I flew, other than the Tasman were rather light on it back 4 years ago. Did another 767-300 BKK-BWN that only had 23 of us - only to pile into one onto AKL that didn't have a spare seat at all.

However as I fly EK most recently, I don't tend to find the flights that empty - other than I do find J is half empty or more. Even my flight last weekend doing the Tasman, both to AKL and back to BNE in J, was only about 30% full - which allowed me to test every J seat in the A380 to find my preferred seat.

I did fly BNE-SIN this year on EK ticket, QF metal - QF52??? that was around 60-70% full in Y, and I could only pre-select with EK any seat in the back 8 rows of the 747. When I got on the flight, I found they were all empty and could have had my choice of seats if I wanted, by my window, two wide, empty seat with gab between window seat and window suited me fine.

Needless to say I didn't lack for attention, at one point there was one FA topping up my champagne, another serving me caviar and a third pouring me iced vodka.
Where was the fourth?

On arrival we parked at a remote stand and I did feel a little embarrassed when the rest of the pax were held back while I descended the stairs to my private minibus.
Really?

I have had a few flights on MH recently that have ended up at the remote gates and business class has to wait for economy class passengers until the bus fills up so First must be really special.

But that is not an issue as I have always been first at the Premium lanes even though I wait for everyone to get off the bus first. Go figure....

Why would the arrival experience of a passenger flying F on TG and landing at a remote bay in BKK be anything like what a MH J or Y pax experience?

Yes it is a big deal to travel in First.

Not....

JQ flight from Denpesar to Melbourne, 31 December 2012. Only pax in Starclass are Mrs Smithy and myself..I was told economy section was 70% empty.

IMOP, definately the date/time to fly out of DSP. And the same flight and date in 2010 and 2011 had same load.

QF Syd-Sing 6th Oct 2013 Y A330.
7 people (yes I said 7) in the rear cabin segment. I have an empty row in front and an empty row behind as well as being the only person in my row.

SQ HKG - SIN May 2013 F 777-300

2 people in F.

SQ SIN - SYD May 2013 F A380

Only person in F.

I had a corker QF US trip in Feb this year - the 93 from MEL-LAX had about 60 in Y and I had 71D already so between that and then three empty seats beside that was extremely comfortable. The onward LAX-JFK a couple of days later had about 40 in Y on the 747. Loads on the way back not much better until the 94 which was about 90% full in Y and 100% full in all other classes....

QF88 HKG-SYD last year had a very light load on an A332. In the rear Y cabin there were approx 20 pax, and the middle Y cabin was only half full. It was a daylight flight at the time so probably explains the low numbers.

SYD-CBR on a 734 that had 6 pax, 4 of which were required to sit in the emergency exit rows.

Only 7?

On the QF5 about a week after that 7 pax in the rear cabin, Y+ was <50%. Didn't check what Y was like, but it felt like a very light aircraft on take-off.

I used to like riding the DC-9 at take off thrust even at max weight - airborne so briskly. :D

On Christmas Day 2012 my partner and I had the entire VA 737 for ourselves flying DPS-PER. Earlier that day the other VA DPS-PER flight had just a single passenger.

AKL-SYD last night (EK A380) - Zone A full, B at 30%, C & D - about one person/couple at every (or every second) window only. However, the inbound sector that morning had been packed according to FA.
Because the Bledisloe Cup was being played in Dunedin last night?

Kuala Lumpur to MEL on EK in First on 30 June. Two passengers - we each got a sleeping suite in the middle of the cabin and a sit up suite by the window. Four cabin staff who could not do enough for us. I saw the other passenger once during the whole 8 hours! It felt very special and just like I imagine a private jet to be! Spoilt me for future travel though!

Just got off a rather empty flight in SIN today:
EK433 - BNE-SIN
145 in Y (out of 310)
14 in J (out of 42)
0 in F
777-300

AKL-MEL on QF26 a few years back (ok so not in the last year). It was a B747 and there wouldn't have been more than about 30 pax in Y. Every single person had a full row to themselves...
had similar in 2005 on the old QF31 when it used to depart MEL around 2am.

Had the four middle seats in the second row of economy set up as a bed.

QF8 (DFW->BNE) on Friday/Saturday night depending on which time zone you're in, in mid June. The flight over on QF7 was packed, I didn't see a free seat in Y, and unfortunately I'd used all my QF points recently on something else so couldn't put in for an upgrade. Coming back I was seated half way down left hand Y, with no-one in the other two seats, nor anyone at all in the row behind and only one in the row in front - I'd estimate 25% Y load. I've heard somewhere they may deliberately not load QF8 fully so they can have enough fuel to make the long flight, but I'm not sure how much difference that makes.
