What's a Dash-3

From what I recall, some DHC-3's were re-engined with turbo-props.

Given the PT6 was developed to replace the Wasp by P&W Canada some 10 years after they started DHC-3 deliveries it was a natural progression but they were never made from scratch with the option. I just love the sound of the radials, must go for a run on one of the Beavers out of Sydney Harbour again, its a unique experience. Would not be the first time someone has confused IATA codes with ICAO codes:

I was told the DC3 on the CNS tarmac is actually privately owned by a local business man.

I see the OP is going CNS/HTI on the De Havilland DHC-8 Series 300 to Hamilton Island its an outrageous Q fare on such a small noisy plane?.

Outrageous is a comparitive term I guess. I need to fly in and out in the one day and have work to do which will take a couple of hours. Given I had a job in CNS today, it works well for me.

On a side note, all the carriers annoy with their scheduling of both HTI and PPP. Apart from MKY it is now very difficult to do in and out in a day. A year or so ago it was possible but now they all (except the QF Dash 8 out of CNS) fly in and out in tight groupings..............surely in the best interest of serving the Whitsunday Coast, they should at least try to schedule beginning of day and end of day flights, even if they are to different cities.
