And then a F to LHR return for two for 768k.
Comes to 1.128m points and probably a few K in $.

If you have a mortgage that is non-tax deductible, use them for international flights where you would normally spend real life money (unless you are flush with cash). Points don't earn interest and devalue horribly with airlines increasing the points needed plus fines & taxes along with possible rule changes.

Whereas cash in the bank tends to be more stable (unless it happens to be in Cyprus). Points earn for the scheme is a great revenue spinner. However; for the scheme, it them becomes a liability to them. At some point I'd image the scheme looks to de-risk somehow ie read it as 'enhancement'.

And on the rare occasion the scheme also can go broke (waves fist at ANSETT Golden Wing)

True but you would earn 720-840 SCs per person as well as >50k points.
