The posted photo reminded me of the CX J cabin... :(

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Having this debate with myself again, currently 2A & 3A are taken. So will have to pick between the remains. I had no trouble whatsoever with 1A though to LHR, lovely long flight that is.

As for couples, I know we could certainly both 'fit' into the bed as it is quite wide, particularly compared with the now old CX coffins which are claustrophobic in comparison. However I'd still pick the 744 if not flying alone, we had 3E&F coming home last time and you can actually be together if that's your thing. Also helped having nobody else behind row 2.

It can't be said enough times, there really is not bad F seat and on the 380 it is even more true.

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

Basically agree 2A&3A or 3A&4A if available but any available A combination.

When strapped in you are basically solo and cannot really see another seated PAX.

The suites are quite large with plenty of room for two to sit to face each other, talk and dine.

Was in 3F yesterday, first time in the middle, and was surprised by how much you see of the pax in the corresponding A seat. I was basically looking straight into 3A....even with the privacy screens up. I'm really undecided now, my current booked trips are all 3A, but in terms of privacy I think the K seats might have the edge....but then you have more foot traffic. A first world dilemma if ever there was one. The F seat certainly didn't feel as private as the A's and K's.

Thanks for testing the F seats out for me. You've confirmed my suspicion that it's only a good seat if the alternative is upstairs ;)

Haha, I wonder what the cabin crew would do, or be obliged to do, if they saw/heard something like that. Did any of the staff say anything to the couple?

Offer a seat belt extender? I hope neither of them was a screamer.

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

I had 3A in August to LAX and thought it was great. At cruising alt the screens on the opposite side of the aisle are raised, you raise the small screen at the foot of your suite and you feel like you're the only one on the flight. Change into your PJ's before take off. Consider the tasting menu for a meal.

3A for me. Mid way between front and galley noise. Feels totally private, but hey what a problem to deliberate over!

The Compte will still be cold by the time they get to you!

Also mid way away from a baby if that happens on your flight

3F looks straight into 3A so you are not quite as private as you think you are. Took me by surprise.

Always take 3k Never had an issue with Privacey, Foot traffic or anyhthing come to think if it. Had 4A once and forrtunatley half way through was able to change to K. For me K is far far better than A or F seats.

Re: QF A380 F seating for singles - help settle my mind

I made a comment earlier that I prefer 3A on the A380, and have been lucky enough to fly 3A on the 747 on several occasions. However, the more I think about that post the more I think I might have that DYKWIA syndrome. Hell, I should be just happy to have flown F long haul as I'm not important at all (well to my kids I am ;).

A380 First Class seat selection (for couples)

After 24 months of furious spending on my AMEX (and making the most of the 5x bonus point promotion a DSE) I've managed to build up enough points for two first class one world award redemption tickets, with one of the legs being on the A380 flying LAX-MEL. I still can't work out how Cathay Pacific Asia Miles can offer a first class award for 275,000 points, when Qantas want to charge 420,000 points, but that is another topic in itself (and probably already answered).

I don't think the A380 reconfiguration will have a huge impact in seat selection, but I was wondering which seat combinations are better for travelling couples. I understand that the suites are designed to provide a certain level of privacy/separation, but I think I'd prefer to not be too far from my partner when travelling. Are we better to try for an F and K seat combination? I've always wanted to sit in 1A, but is the proximity to the toilets, closet and stairs a 'problem'?

Also is there also a dress code for first class? I don't expect to walk on in pyjamas, but are cargo pants and a t-shirt allowed?

Re: A380 First Class seat selection (for couples)

Hi JOC469 Dr H (she who must be obayed) and I often travel on the A380 we always book A 4 & 5 as there more private, also if you want you can eat together in one seat.

Re: A380 First Class seat selection (for couples)

Thanks for the reply Wayne, and glad to see you are still posting on AFF.

I haven't travelled on the A380 with anyone but myself :( but based on my solo travel I would pick 2 seats in row A. Max 5 passengers using that aisle, can dine together in one suite. Most couples I have seen have been in J and K combos ( most usually 2 J/K) . I always feel a little sorry for the J seat partner as they are really short changed.
Just my two cents YMMV

F seating on Qantas A380

Hi All,

Am lucky enough to be flying F (on points!) with the wife SIN<->LHR in November. Seating allocation has given us 3A, 3F to London and and 3F, 3K on the return.

Can anyone provide some help as to if these seats are OK or if there are specific seats I should be aiming to get?

Thanks!

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Hi

I always find the K seats are better as not overlooked by the middle row very private and quiet would sugest either 3k and 2k or 3k and 4k. The A380 is great have done it many times.

Cheers

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

This is one of those threads where personal preference really comes into play. There are no bad seats in F on the A380. My personal preference is on the A side. I sat in 2A when I did LAX-SYD in April and really enjoyed it.

I have previously sat in 5A and also enjoyed that seat. Although I have read comments that there may be galley noise. Another thing to note about 5A is that it is the seat for those with babies so you may be moved if required.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

Thanks for your replies - I'm thinking keeping 3A as it's a window, which I don't mind when I'm not in Economy.....as long as there is nothing to worry about, having said that 5 being near the galley could be an issue. And row 1 being up the front near the toilets.

Re: F seating on Qantas A380

i agree...just being in F is a blessing..and once the privacy walls are deployed the middle F seats are just as private as the A or K seats..just doesnt have windows!! again thats my opinion/experience..and as a couple you can dine/socialize together in one suite...with the added advantage of 'going home' to your suite for some 'quiet time'!!;)
