What the best seat(s) to choose in First class on A380?

You also get served "first" with 1A - not that waiting is a big issue.
There is the minor issue of the overhead bin being slightly smaller due to the curvature of the aircraft. Not a huge deal but if your rollaboard is *just* within regulation sizing then it will be a bit too tight.

Served first in 1A? not so sure about that given the galley is back past 5.

Also with the nature of dine on demand and people at different stages of their journeys etc on longer flights it's really not that much of an issue. Even if you start a big meal service (eg: lunch) at roughly the same time, people finish stuff at different stages, or order varying numbers of courses/plates etc, so it tends to wash out in the end that I've observed in terms of service.

Reading this, I realised that I have never used an overhead bin, when flying on the A380.
And that, to my pleasure, is a lot of flights. :)
My carry on and smaller items all go under the bench seat or are stowed in the other available nooks and crannies, so all close at hand.
A much better arrangement for those of us who are a little "height challenged". :)

I am well aware I march to the beat of a different drum - but I just do not get the whole 'gotta get 1A' theory - I am yet to see any premium cabin where 1A is the 'best in show'!
I have settled on 2A as my favourite seat, but Mr FM really likes 1A.

In our experience staff always start with 1A and work back, as far as taking orders etc after take off. After that, yes it doesn't really matter, as service as you say depends on who finishes when, or wakes up etc. For awhile Mr FM and I experimented with 1A and K, but have gone back to 1A and 2A, as Mr FM said service was always slower on the K side than the A side.

3A is my fave. mid cabin, quiet side. the suite(sweet) spot for me :)

Re: QF A380 - Favourite F Seat

So far for me 1A twice, 1K once, 3A twice, 5A once, 2F once, 4K once, 3K four times, 2K three times.

I'm happy to encourage peeps to go for A seats. ;)

5A never again! Way too much noise.

Thanks for the like legroom. A nice reminder to post my final update. (My QF A380 days are now well behind me....sadly.)

So now it is:

1A1
2A1
3A2
4A4
5A3
2F1
3F0
4F0
5F1
1K1
2K4
3K3
4K17
5K2

So no particular preference for me as you can see. :p :p Never did get to sit in 3F or 4F. In reality no bad seats, some are perhaps a fraction better than others. what is certain is that I miss the FASA, or the JASA and a points upgrade!!! :(

Have 3a and 4a booked on a day flight from Dubai. Should give it a bit of a test! Why is 4K so popular?

I don't fly as much in F on the QFA380 as many here do but I found foot traffic to be greater on the A side, particularly crew members. (Probably just unlucky I guess) I like 4 because it is sort of in the middle, 1A and K are near the toilets, and 5A and K near the galley. 4A and 4K have three windows instead of 2 and I spend hours playing with the blind. :p (I have the attention span of a gnat.) I also find the K side a little more private. (A and F seats both turn to the left, whilst K to the right.) In the end the differences are marginal, QF really does F very well from my experience.

Time to research the BA A380 now and start at 1A later this month.

Same, this is from all observations in 1A, 2A, 4A and 5A. Like I said not that it is a big deal.

My guess is that they are the relatively less experienced travellers who desire the 1A seats - generally speaking.

I think (? ?)I'm a reasonably experienced traveller and I love 1A. It's very private and I don't need a big overhead locker or have to worry about light leakage from passengers around me who don't have the shades down.

I'm always happy in 1A. Didn't so much like 5K the one and only time with thumps from the galley coming through.

I agree with almost everything you wrote except one part - "privacy".

Every other four pax using the loo will walk past 1A.

Human nature as it is, I'd suggest it is unavoidable 1A would be "scanned" by others.

Thumb up for the shades issue which is the major reason for selecting 1A IMO.

In the end, I opted to trust (and pray) that I will see some common sense with the shades up / down conundrum.

QF10, seats 1-4A taken. What's the next best seat, is it 5A or anything on the other side?

I'd take 3 or 4K before 5A but if you sleep easily with occasional galley noise, then 5A is OK [well, Cate Blanchett was there when I was in 4A]

I'd happily take 5A before anything on the other side.

Me too. The only issue with 5A is that this is the designated seat for a passenger with a lap child. Therefore you might be moved at the last minute.

I've flown in 2A, 3A, 5A and 1K (op-up). If the A side isn't free then I will take a K seat over the middle.

My favourite seat is 3A and is booked for next year's trip back from London. :)
