The big gap in the partner network is Europe, and ultimately if partners are considered by Bain and co as important to VA's future, a tie up with LH group wouldn't hurt VA (noting that AF/KL are in the QF camp right now and obviously IAG is oneworld).
Considering VA has an interline agreement with the LH group carriers (LH interlines with everyone in Oceania basically - including QF group's JQ), that is not out of the question.

It would be quite amusing if it was any of the later, IAG in particular.

How do you get Europe as a gap???
EY & SQ both go Europe from Aus.

SQ I know cancelled Aus flights for October or something, but that's a short temp thing.

from my point of view they have Europe, Asia & US/Canada reasonably well covered, not bad considering there're not part of any alliance IMO.

If on a trip and wanting to fly between CDG and FRA, neither AUH nor (especially) SIN would be desirable as transit points (unless you are after SC/Points 🙈🙊🙉).
Did VS ever start up anything intra-Europe at all? I've lost track.

Not recently but they've had a few shorter haul flights over the years. More recently in 2013 they had an airline running for 2 years called little red, it was only domestic UK flights.

Back in the 2000s they had flights from the UK to Athens with A320/321's and then back in the 80s and 90s they had some UK/Ireland/Europe services.

VS did try to acquire Flybe for a second shot at UK domestic & short haul international (after their Little Red operated by Aer Lingus failure), but we know how Flybe went financially and was one of the first aviation business victims of COVID and all.

I did see that VARA are adding 2x A320’s to their fleet in the New Year for the booming FIFO routes. Anyone know if these are existing aircraft in the VA fleet or if they are bringing some more in?

There are no TT A320s left, so they'll be leasing them from elsewhere.
Just not sure if they're from TR (Scoot)

Heh,
Wonder how they are going to meet the " net zero emissions"... target.
Electric powered or solar powered planes?
Nuclear powered perhaps?
Planes have to burn fuel.
Or maybe who knows, what the world will be like in 2050, or if Virgin or them by another name, will still be around.
Edit: back to main gist of this thread, still no news of what VA2/VA3/VA3.25's plans are, partner wise, going forward.

Isn't the most simple solution is to include carbon offsetting on every fare?

Currently the carbon offsetting costs about 90c to $1.10 per hour of flying (route dependant).

Given all VA flights are now 5hrs or less it'd mean the most you'd be adding to fares is about $5. Taking the SYD-MEL flights for example you could make those $69 fares $70 instead and the market that all fares are now carbon offset.

Exactly is just so silly this net zero thing.

VA partners Ann recently in terms of gaining rewards seats exchange.

What more do you want?

That would be the simple way I suppose.

But of course "offsets" are a bit flimsy. If you are investing in "tree planting" that will eventually be chopped down for wood products then one must wonder of the value of the "offset".

Engines will continue to get more efficient. You can see why they would commit to a net zero target, it is the in thing and finance absolutely will be harder and more expensive if you don't going forward, for better or worse.

At least until January 2022 when the 6 hour East Coast-Bali flights start.
VA are also boosted by the withdrawal of GA from East Coast-Bali for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if VAi are going to adopt the same BoB menu as their domestic counterparts. Surely there needs to be a different BoB menu for Short Haul Int'l to NAN and DPS.

Even then, adding $6 for fares won't harm them much if they could claim it's all for carbon offsets.

Another travel site suggested that a new menu will be launched next month, there have been trials over the past couple of months with options such as fresh wraps and more recently toasted sandwiches. I guess you can expect the menu to be much the same with just a few extra options added.

VA1 had a terrible relationship with Indonesia, the government even banned Tigger from flying there altogether. Let’s hope Bain/VA2 have a better relationship.
