What I ate today - the food thread

Bask restaurant Peregian Beach.

Started with House bread and almond cream, Kingfish Crudo and diced raw wagyu (forgot to take photos ). Pork Tomahawk, duck breast and truffle fries. Full menu here MENU — Bask Restaurant.



And for desert a Lemon Cheesecake coughtail at Captains Daughter (next door to Bask restaurant).

I forgot to get a photo of the Wrigley family super yacht moored opposite the restaurant. My seatmate had staff that had nothing better than looking up the registration.

Here’s one I prepared earlier…

Cliveden Bar, Pullman East Melbourne - late lunch from their all day menu. It was very noisy with a group of workers, staff allowed us to sit in the quiet of the restaurant- hence the tablecloth.

Steak Frites


With a French rosè

QF CBR-MEL, Chickpea curry, peppered green beans, rice, Lindt chocolate, coffee and sparkling water … only missing - side of fresh chilli

Blu Ginger, CBR CBD … catchup with a few mates.

Started with Pani Puri - 8/10



Then, Kerala style veg curry for myself - 5/10



Mates had Dal Makhani - 8/10



And Chettinad Chicken - 8/10.



Copious amounts of Naan and Roti bread around the table.




Finished with Pakistani Karak Chai at a different place - 8/10.

Heche en Mexico, CBR CBD … catchup with a different set of mates…

Started with jackfruit taco - 7/10



Followed by Birra sandwich with vegan chilli corn carne - 8/10. The spicy sauce/dip was a standout for me …


Will definitely try this place again ..

Dumpling Social, CBR.

Newly refurbished place in CBR. Used to be a dumpling place earlier too.

Tried the sautéed green beans with vege floss - a bit salty my liking, but overall the dish was likable .. Will try again, but with a side of rice or something to balance the flavours …

When you ask the lovely exec lounge attendant to put together a plate of savoury snacks….



Suffice to say I didn’t need to ask for more.
