What I ate today - the food thread

Eggs Bene with Salmon (if you can spot it) at the club lounge IC Bali. Not bad but took forever and was not toasted. IMG_0910.jpeg will help myself to Salmon and request toasting for take 2 in the morning. The stress of it all forced me to hit the coughtails for happy hour

Lunch at Coal River Farm in Cambridge TAS.

For me, Chorizo Raclette - Coal River Farm Mild Meadow cheese, molten and bubbling over a bed of sourdough with sliced new potatoes, twice cooked pork belly bites and chorizo.

IMG_1842.jpeg

For DejaBrew+1, Market Fish - Panfried Golden Snapper, garlic roast potatoes, green beans and ratatouille.

IMG_1841.jpeg

To finish, a Dark Chilli Hot Chocolate, served with a piece of dark chocolate and a complimentary green apple chocolate cream.

IMG_1843.jpeg

Coal River Farm has become the defacto first stop for DejaBrew+1 and I whenever we find ourselves in Hobart. Never disappoints!!

Also helped ourselves to a selection of chocolates to go ;)

Lunch at Mr Chen’s Dumplings in Haymarket.

Duck pancakes.

IMG_8453.jpeg

Salt and pepper squid.

IMG_8454.jpeg

Prawn dumplings.

IMG_8455.jpeg

Perhaps the S&P squid wasn’t the wisest choice but this was clearly straight from the freezer to the fryer.

Dumplings and the pancakes were good but I can’t see how this place gets 4.8 in google reviews. Avoid.

When you think burgers, the cafe attached to a caravan park might not be the first place that springs to mind.

But I’d been given a tip about Millie Cafe which is at Cable Beach Caravan Park.

And what a good tip it was.

Simple but fresh and delicious burgers and ~20% cheaper than the pubs and bars in Broome.

Barramundi for me.

Kallas Beach restaurant, near Corinth. Shared mixed grill for 4 and a mixed salad, followed by watermelon and honeydew. A lot of variety with the grill.

Seating to well over 100 customers. We were early, 7pm so it was quiet, most people didn't seem to eat until much later.
