What I ate today - the food thread

Lunch today was at Marriott Brisbane:





Then on my way back to my office, went into my local deli to buy this chocolate cannoli (I needed the sugar hit to get through the afternoon):

Mmm I don't eat schnitzel anymore unless I'm in Passau or Scharding lol

The Oberhaus restaurant in Passau is high up and you can see the rivers meet from up there very clearly.

Food is decent too

Wednesday was at Rothwells in Edward Street, Brisbane CBD.

Was from the ala carte menu (normally I’m at functions where its share plates here). Forgot to take a photo of the menu:

My wife cooked egg and zucchini slice (6 eggs and 1 large zucchini and Tom Thumb tomatoes).. 2 meals for us and my daughter, son is picky and doesn’t like zucchini

Sometimes I never told the Flyfrequently offspring (kids and gkids) exactly what was in something, can hide a lot of veggies by grating them.

They loved "Circle Chips" only found out it was calamari much, much later in life @QF WP.
Of course my daughter, Missy's Mum, keeps telling me I shouldn't do that
Gkids now love avocados since I made chocolate mousse with them.

Today lunch (just finished) was at the Brisbane
Westin.


Entree. But different to have an open tart and a very flaky pastry:



Both mains shown. Really hot fish so I had to wait before eating it, so enjoy some more red wine:

Back at the club at Dicky Beach.
Ribs for Mrsdrron. Too much sugar in the glaze. The meat was fine.

And I had the flathead. Very nice.

Crispy Sea Bass in sweet chilli & ginger with plantains

Grand Marnier Orange Crepe stuffed with ricotta

Getting a bit too "woke" in my old age, left them more than a sizeable tip. Shkoder. Albania.

Food was ok, not exceptional, I think me and her cook very well ourselves, escpecially stuffed vegies.

Salad, mousakka, stuffed capsicum, all vego, red wine was from a large plastic bottle, which was surprisingly good.

Today was Madame Wu, on the Brisbane River (with only partial view at present) in their private room:









Dish of the day was the chicken Ribs. Helped finish the bowl it as so good











Beautiful dessert, would have had a second. Vanilla bean lifted the taste:

Who needs gourmet when your wife can cook like this.

Smoked cod and seafood marinara mix panang curry with sweet chilli. I had some mark down Singapore noodles. One of the tastiest curry meals in a long long time.

Last one for the week. Back at Donna Chang today . Some attendees had cancelled on the day, so there was excess food:





Oh my, the ribs were good. There was a half finished plate at the other end of the table that was passed to us to devour Dish of the day



Prawn and scallop wontons. Get in ma belly
(Again, more supplied than attendees so I had to ensure I ate my fill)





Succulent fish that had to be finished.





Love the donuts. The server gave me 2. Both finished!

A bit late posting this…but this is calf’s head at Bouillon Chartier in Paris. One of the worst meals I’ve ever head, but an experience not to forget. Aside from the snails, all the meals were sub par, but people still line up to get into this restaurant.

Crispy lamb ribs. Very good.


Garlic fried rice.


Food was very good but the place was jumping and noisy. I was the oldest person there by a long way.

Dinner out with a group of AFF’ers at Southbank, Brisbane on Friday night:

Then last night was the annual AFF Mods dinner (in Brisbane this year, Agnes in Agnes Street, Fortitude Valley). Nondescript street entrance quickly changed inside to a vibrant experience. Lots of travel chat and great food:

As my pnr for my Wizzair flight today is ZENxx_ and driving yesterday I saw the irvana Resort, I had to stop.
I didn't want a large meal so I had fish soup and a tomato/cheese salad and of course a coffee.
There must be a bit of disposable income in Albania. Quite an impressive setup.




The Honda bike was a nice touch in frint of the relief, the food was good as well!
