What I ate today - the food thread

Tonight a new restaurant for us. Piggyback at Palmwoods. In the same group as Rice Boi at the Mooloolaba Wharf which is very popular. Asian Fusion. I was with 5 nurses who did their training at RPAH some years ago.

Braised beef. Photos only when remembered and the food had reached me.

Pork belly.
IMG_1086.jpeg

Calamari with Tom yum paste. Great taste.
IMG_1087.jpeg

Chicken curry.IMG_1088.jpeg

And eggplant chips. The best dish of the night.

Many of the dishes are spicy but mostly mild but served with extra chilli. Really beautiful combination of flavours and we will definitely be going back.

Today we went to Arcachon a coastal town on the shores of Arcachon Bay. Just under an hour from Bordeaux. It is famous for oyster production.

We are not huge fans of oysters so we limited ourselves to a taster plate of 6 - for 6€ at the Arcachon Les Halles. I must admit that they tasted very sweet and fresh.

We then had a meal at a small restaurant next to the oyster stall.

My wife had the veal - Paupiette de veau - with a cream sauce and champignons and rice. She enjoyed it but found it too filling and was unable to finish it.

I had the Beef Carpaccio. It was a perfect meal for a sunny summer day.

As did the barramundi special.
IMG_1102.jpeg

I didn’t take a photo of Mrsdrron’s salmon or my yellow curry with seafood which was delicious.
The restaurant from the beach.

And finishing lunch after 3 hours the fire was still burning.

It is a regular Cafe by day, Wendy and Bob run an Asian Fusion evening menu 3 nights a week paying homage to their upbringing.

Lucked into a good accommodation deal with Pullman on the Park - "Time to Enjoy" included one night's accommodation, 3 course dinner for two and breakfast - $242 - excellent value.

Our welcome drinks were brought into the restaurant as the bar was chockas with footy fans, some happy - some not!

A very pleasant evening, it got very busy and noisy as we were leaving, the restaurant was fully booked.
Staff (especially Steph who has been there for over 30 years) were terrific and gave prompt service.
Would recommend, normally 3 course menu is $85 pp!
