I haven't been in the lounges much lately (sitting in MEL right now - new space and coffee bars look great!), but yesterday morning and today noticed that there's no more boiled eggs available in the sandwich bar? When did this travesty occur? I used to enjoy a boiled egg with a ham toastie in the morning.

Anyone else noticed this?

Noticed it for a while now. Didn't bother raising it though (no puns intended!)

They still had it in the CBR lounge when I was there on Monday morning!

I was similarly devastated when this happened in MEL last month, it was like that 2 days in a row (15,16) so assume it's an ongoing thing. Thankfully it sounds like they're still in SYD (though MEL seems to consistently have pancakes, SYD it seems only when an attendant decides to bring them out)

They were available in Bne a couple of weeks ago.

My trip actually started in SYD and no eggs :( Hopefully it was just a minor mishap or anomaly.. *sigh*

This morning at the Virgin Lounge Canberra:

I ate one, it tasted pretty much like a boiled egg :D

Definately gone from BNE, which is a shame, and the pancake machine constantly ****s itself. Pretty slim pickings actually.. Last 2 flights I have gone in, couldnt find a seat, grabbed a coffee then gone outside to look at the planes. Why did they put the overflow lounge in when they never open it. Seriously, last Saturday the lounge was overflowing, it was an absolute zoo, tables were piled up with dirty crockery and cups, it was terrible

I am hardly ever travelling in the mornings but disappointing if this is another enhancement.

How hard is it to boil an egg?

A cold boiled egg is not my first choice for breakfast. Give me fruit salad with natural yoghurt and a drizzle of honey and a good coffee anyday.

Not difficult but I believe those boiled eggs are cooked en mass and snap chilled to be sold in bulk to places that may use them for things like breakfast such as hotels and alone lounges.

I miss the boiled eggs - I really enjoyed them with my ham and cheese toastie of a morning :(

Can also confirm, from last week - none in either MEL or BNE. Although, BNE had a big pot of "scrambled eggs" which I had not seen there before.

Sampled them, they were awful !

Bring back the Boiled Egg, I say !!!!

Cheers,

Brooke

Ok. Didn't realise that is how they were done but either way it should an inexpensive breakfast item preferred by many.

Scrambled eggs en masse can't be that hard. Most of the time they are prepared in an oven tray, a bit like a massive Spanish omelette.

I know VA lounges have tried to introduce eggs at some point, hence the boiled eggs or the egg and bacon toasties. But last time I had breakfast in a VA lounge, no boiled eggs.

Reminds me a lot of the European breakfasts - which is continental as we know it but they usually add in cheese, cold cuts and cold boiled eggs.

Pleased to report that the BNE lounge had boiled eggs again on Monday ! YAY !

And...........in the "hot" thingy where they had the horrible scrambled eggs a few weeks ago, they had warm baked beans - and they were tasty !

Still no boiled eggs in MEL on Monday :(

Cheers,

Brooke
