What happened to all the A380 F award availability to HKG

maybe there are more actual paying pax!! ....im still bemused as to why some think airlines' need to set aside seats for F/F redemptions (yes its a benefit..but not a certainty)

LOL LOL LOL LOL

Yes heaps of forward bookings for F 10-11 months out.....

My various F flights to LAX/LHR/HKG only have me and the +1 in the cabin for flights in Jan/Feb/March 2015

There is pretty much zero chance that forward bookings up to nearly 12 months in advance have caused FF seats to dry up.

Much rather the FF seats have already been booked as there is at most 2 F seats on some days on the routes that offer F

Having Y/J/F seats is a right for FF redemption as if QF don't set aside any seats then people won't earn FF points and/or fly QF.

For me I have zero interest in earning QFF points through various means if I can't redeem them for F/J long-haul flights.

Well I just searched both on my silver account and mrsdrron's WP account and I cant see 2 F awards to HKG on any day either.Plenty for 1 award from 9 to 12 months out.
Looks like they have decided to only put out 1 F award per flight.

the same thing happened a while ago (a couple of years back) - QF zero'd out availability in F to HKG. Some schedule change happened a couple weeks after and the availability came back.

i wonder if they're up to something now?

Well, I probably should have been clearer on what I meant.

I did a search for F seats to HKG next March, and I see plenty of availability. I mean, it's not everyday, and I'm not entirely sure if you are looking for two or more seats per flight......

Very odd. I checked earlier today and there is no F award availability showing on the QF website in March for SYD-HKG.

Edit: For two seats, I should add

Single seats can be found, but I am yet to see 2 available at all on this route..

I go up to HK 3-4 times per year, and try and take the 380 both ways

I used to see two F seats available all the time in the latter part of last year... and I'm talking about 3-4 months from travel.
There is availability for one though, so me and the mrs may have to go one day apart I guess.

Have never seen two F awards to HKG. Almost a year ago I booked one F and one J due to lack of availability. I don't believe it's a new problem

I have seen some unusual changes in J award availability on QF metal to LHR for March/April next year. It was plentiful last week and now there doesn't seem to be much.

Same thing for F. Been watching April like a hawk as I need to change dates for a booking I did last week. Nothing all week ex-SYD then bingo, two came up today for the day we want :D ex-MEL seems to have daily release for 3 x F.

Well late March / early April is about the 330 day period where AAdvantage and USair can burn this points on QFF award seats.

Of course, Easter Sunday is April 5th next year.

For two people, that's going to be tough. I'd suggest sacrificing your first born, a female virgin or a goat - pick two.

More seriously, I had a look and it's looking pretty bleak for two people. One person fine; two people no. Plenty of availability for two people in Business but not First.

If you're redeeming a QFF award, you can try calling QFF and seeing if they will request YM to release another F seat for you (this might be tough if you're not a WP).

Always grab whatever is available and negotiate later with the airline. As I have status I have a high opinion of what should be available for me. It's a two way street.

Alternatively put the wife in Y or on another airline....fly ahead and prepare for your arrival.

Yes that was a totally flippant and out of character remark.......what was I thinking ???

How about booking F for the SWMBO and Y for yourself? Then you can be on the same flight.

I suppose we may have to weigh up which one results in the lower life expectancy... ;) :p

And what is wrong with the wife in economy and the husband in First?

Spoils the feminist agenda?
