What do you want from airport lounges?

Basically, TK lounge Istanbul, everywhere.
Or Air NZ lounges; they seem to do everything right, even the little regional ones!
Or from the OW program.

Basically, JL lounge Haneda or Narita, everywhere.
Or CX lounges; they seem to do everything right, even the little regional international ones!
:):):)

I would have put QR into the above however I have only been to the DOH lounges.

The QR lounge in CDG is an oasis in an otherwise prize coughhole… Get there early for the morning flight and you’re quite likely to have the place to yourself! (except for the 1/2 doz staff).

Agree with most of the above. No one has mentioned lounges within lounges nor phone booths so I’ll add those two.
I am pretty sure your photos are from a said lounge I mentioned above but maybe wrong.

In no particular order:

- Decent hot meal options that are regularly rotated (looking at you QFd SYD J chicken cacciatore and penne bolognaise)
- Staffed customer service desk
- Comfortable and clean seating preferably with power outlets and runway/apron views
- Clean shower facilities
- High speed Wi-Fi
- Boarding announcements

Nice to have:
- Good selection of non-alcoholic drinks
- Selection of magazines to grab and go

While we're dreaming - also, having the lounge after security, accurate boarding calls (or just accurate screens if PA announcements disturb the serenity) and direct access to the gates so you don't have to mix with the riff-raff. *ducks*

I didn't think I would need to say this but windows to the outside. There are lounges with no outside view. Any outside view, even if it is just a car park or roof of building below. At least you can see the sky. Followed by:

Good WiFi
Seat with power point nearby
Service desk
Someone to clear the tables. Not happening at BNE domestic QJ lounge recently.
Food
Drink

Decent hot food options, and preferably something kid friendly too. And something sweet, so many lounges don't seem to have a dessert or sweet something to munch on.
Decent alcohol, either a good wine selection or spirits (or both).
Windows to look out; planes keep the kids entertained.

I've spent quite a lot of time in airport lounges recently, and I'm finding that there are a few things that I really appreciate the most:
  • Substantial, healthy food options
  • Barista coffee
  • Somewhere to work (e.g. a desk with a power outlet available)
  • Good internet
  • Showers
Runway views and champagne are nice too, but I don't find them essential.

What about you? What are the main things you would like to see more of in airport lounges?
Agree with all of the above! Comfy seating, showers, decent food and barista coffee. Power points at seat and efficient internet. And no mobile phones on speaker!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Domestic - clean toilets, barista coffee in decent sized cup (wish QF would ditch that vile Vittoria and replace with a decent brand and larger cups), comfy seating, well placed accurate departure boards where i dont have to get out of my seat to read, rose (not everyone likes white or red), decent hot food option (QPub at SYD doesn't seem to have anything hot except soup or a toastie, at least at MEL you get pasta or nachos and in ADL potatoes) and a sweet, kid free areas (better small children to be limited to a kids area, not allowed to run free and disturb the adults).

International - all of the above plus decent showers and ala carte not just buffet.

Views etc are nice but not essential.

How about not having to argue your entitlement to enter the lounge? ;)
😆
This.
Just have an eligibility matrix or a touch screen outside the lounge which allows you to lookup/select the variables that relate to you and get a big green tick or red cross based on the actual rules.
If the lounge is full, display an approx. wait time. The lounge agents can still have final say on dress regulations, but the combinations of class of cabin, carrier, airline status, flight code, fare bucket etc. should not be up for debate.

+1

Or just let me scan me myself in with my card / app !

An area where you can remove your mask and breathe uncirculated air e.g. Air NZ Auckland Lounge has a section where there is a roof that open/closes by shutters to the outside world.
