What cheeses me off

We need [digital systems] with no glitches. People expect nothing to go wrong, so no glitches.
Line uttered by an obvious d-h'd of a journalist in the UK. Shows a complete and utter (or naive) lack of knowledge of real world systems. And he's just going on and on about it.

The only way to have zero risk is to not have the system with the risk at all.

If you can't have zero risk, you do your best, but then you also have backup plans or contingency procedures. You can't have zero risk.

The hype around the NFL in Melbourne.

It is unprecedented in September (other than during the Sydney Olympics) that AFL is not the first sporting discussion in The Age.

Silly game. WTF are we importing american "sport" into Australia?
I think we imported Rugby League and AFL into America. I think there's that round in Vegas for the NRL every year.

At least there's no sports tariffs 🙂

Yes, also silly. That was more about gambling and the US governments didn't subsidise the deal unlike here.

People in art exhibitions that have no self awareness. The same women twice barged into me because she just kept walking backwards to get a different perspective and I was at 90 degrees to her looking at something else. When she laughed and said ooh I've done it again I restrained from saying something very rude

Well in theory, we've imported rugby union, rugby league, soccer, and even cricket into Australia. AFL is our only home grown sport, as anyone in the southern states will tell you :)

I don't mind it, being a grid iron afficiado, and it has provided a welcome spotlight on Melbourne as the sporting capital to the US audiences (Cue Peter V'landys trying to have future games banned unless they're played in Sydney) I've been watching the US coverage, as it's always interesting to see your country through other people's eyes.
