What cheeses me off

In my day at U SYD it was us public school students who studied hard as that is what we had to do to get in.
Private school students he had been spoon fed and not used to working hard.
 
Do any other countries immigration systems require you to print a piece of paper with a photograph of your face on it, what a waste of ink and paper, not to mention time.
Of course I'm talking about first world countries.
As I said earlier, even Albania had a simple one step process.

Maybe I'm just tired and crotchety, I'm certainly over travel at the moment, this year has been an absolute shocker, partly driven by the antics of a certain egotistical clown.

I forgot to mention that Indonesian customs also took great interest in her stick of deodorant, swabbing that as well, I felt like we were in a Month Python sketch.
Of course going though domestic security in Melbourne the ipad in my carryon bag had to be swabbed for possible explosives, really, maybe I do look like the unabomber.... :)

The USA did exactly that only a few years ago at least. I have to enter under a Visa not an ESTA so maybe it’s just for that.

No, there was a time even with an ESTA you’d go to a terminal and print the chit before fronting Mr Happy.

Canada has a two step dance but I don’t recall if there’s a bit of paper.

Ordered a jersey (commemorative for a school). They asked which size based on shirt / chest measurement. Got measured then picked the next size up (a few cms), thinking it might be a slightly loose or snug fit.

I basically got a parachute. No exchanges or refunds. Guess it'll sit in the cupboard.

Was the supplier in Australia ? If the goods supplied do not comply with the description, for example goods are a different colour or size, there is a consumer remedy available under the Australian Consumer Law. The remedies vary depending upon the particular circumstances but if sounds like you have a 'major failure' rendering the supplied goods useless and therefore you are entitled to a replacement or a refund. Where there is a 'major failure" the customer gets to choose which remedy they want, so either replacement or refund.
 
WCMO is the increasing numbers of contributors on various AFF Forums who assume everyone else has a Facebook, Insta or X account. They post a link without giving a summary of what they have posted. At least for the first two, you cannot view the post without an account. If I wanted to look at this material, I would have access to it already or have to open an account. That's the last thing I want to do, share all my data with Meta or Musk. Google has enough already.

To be fair, you actually can view quite a lot of Facebook or Insta posts without an account. For example, @anat0l posted a Facebook link in the humour thread here and I had zero trouble viewing that without logging into FB. I don't have an Insta account, but can typically view the various Insta links posted here on AFF.

Additionally, XenForo (the software on which the AFF forums run) has the ability to embed some of these links such that they are playable - without a login for the relevant social platform - directly within the post on AFF. Unfortunately, like Qantas, the relative success of displaying this content as "embedded" within the AFF post is consistently inconsistent.

Show me how. This was the post that prompted my comment above. I just checked for a second time and FB, once again, invited me to open an account.

I actually don't mind this at all, especially if the laundromat doesn't have a vending machine of washing products, and the nearest convenience store also doesn't sell single or few-use products (let alone any washing product). Even more so when I'm overseas.

Somehow my clothes haven't been destroyed yet.

Suppose an option would be nice to have, i.e. to dispense or to not as part of starting the cycle.

I actually threw some clothes out from my last trip because despite washing in plain water 5 times after initial washing could not get smell out
Now use AI to find laundromat that lets you use own detergent and in Europe it was accurate
