What cheeses me off

I've been to police. I've notified agent. Strata managers are top secret in Queensland. I really do not understand why it needs to be that difficult to get in touch with strata.

Guy has had lots of phone calls this morning. Screaming and shouting. Apparently he's trying to get into rehab but there's a 3-4 week wait.

Im not sure he's related to the old lady that lives in that apartment but there's been a conversation as she's out doing things.

Very sad the system is not there to support him.

It's clear as a country that our focus is on the wrong things.

Homelessness and those living close to poverty should be the number 1 focus.

Mental health and substance abuse should also be a high priority.

And for crying out loud build affordable housing for Australians. It is so wrong when you see 60 people and 95 people inspecting 1 apartment.

Oh I totally agree. Just found it amusing that it was a "huge global sale" (where global = US + Canada only). Kind of like their baseball, hockey and NFL "World Championships"

WCMO is yesterday one of my contractors came into the office complaining he isnt feeling well as had cold/flu symptoms so I sent him home (policy says he should have never come in).

Now this arvo I have a runny nose and scratchy throat. Not happy, as now I will need to WFH tomorrow and I was really needing to be in office.

There is a strong linkage between these two problems, for a good number of the homeless. But really there seems to be two types of homeless people, that calls for potentially different solutions:
- those who just can't afford a home, are doing the best they can, living in a car, or a tent or something like that. They may or may not be holding down a job, but apart from money they tend to have their sh#t together. Increasing supply and reducing rents may help this group. But seem to be vulnerable for slipping into the second group.
- those we see on the streets with mental health/substance abuse problems. Increasing supply and reducing rents just in itself, not going to solve the problems of this group. This certainly remains a huge problem, but not new - I remember in the 80s and 90s lots of homeless in inner Melbourne like this and seems very little different today (perhaps more in numbers, but remember population has gone up 60% since then too).

I can’t be the only one that finds jokes/humour related to events recently in Victoria involving mushrooms, not funny and unpleasant?

People died FFS, what if it was one of your family, funny then?

It would seem things have changed, or maybe I just don't have a sense of humour.

What is the rule here about reposting copyrighted material, especially cartoons? I presume the original creators have given their consent.... That's a joke, Joyce..........

I discovered the unfortunate side effect of being healthy today. After 6 years, I tried to make a booking at my doctors, only to be told I have been ‘de-activated’ and see my regular GP. “But you are my regular GP/clinic, I haven’t been sick so haven’t come in” I explained. Obviously have had COVID but no need to visit for that. Despite going there exclusively for over 20 years, having 3 kids and wife using the clinic, the receptionist wouldn’t budge.

Living regionally, I now have the arduous task of finding a clinic taking new patients or be prepared to travel 100km+. Looks like clinics are now running loyalty based access programs.

Your last sentence reminded me that as a teenager in Year 11 (equivalent) we had a teacher by that name and we would often make that comment (to each other not him).
I know people died as a result of her actions and it really was tragic, I think the actual bizarre nature of the whole thing has given rise to memes and jokes.

I have never searched for accommodation there yet they feel the need to tell me just in case I decide to visit Seattle.
