What are you doing for Valentines Day?

*sigh* There'll be no love for Lawlass on Valentine's Day.

But even when I was all partnered up and got stuff I thought it was a ridiculous cash grab for Hallmark and florists so I'm good with that

Engagement has fallen through already?

Mr Timtammi proposed on Valentines day. I couldn't figure out why he was acting so weird that night before going to the restaurant. Asked him if he was sick and if so did he still want to go and he blurted it out. I guess he couldn't stand the suspense! Anyway, I said yes of course :)

That said, we don't really do anything special Valentines day, too commercial for us really, like others have said. I prefer anniversaries, its more personal somehow.

Cheers

Timmi

Valentines Day? Pffft.... Much more important event a few days later. :p

I'll be single like every other Valentines Day, and expect it to pass me by without even noticing. Then again, it's Chilli's birthday so I'm sure I'll spend the day with her, celebrating 12/84 years!


I am not up with who's "dating" who... :p

I assume Chilli is your beautiful dog in your Avatar ?

If so happy bday from me as well

Given we just got through my birthday (40th this year) and our anniversary is tomorrow Valentine's Day tends to lose out.

I hope you all get to spend it with someone you love!

Nice sentiment.

Valentine's Day? Meh ... I'm going to work ...

"Our" day is the 18th - will mark 23 years since meeting ... After breakfast, I'm off on a day trip to BNE for a meeting! (She's staying home).

I think most of us are going to work on the 14 Feb, and congrats on the 23 years on the 18 Feb.

Quite right.

Fingers crossed I'll be spending it with myself...and there is no one I love more than myself!!!!

Good one, I didn't expect any different answer from you.

Married for 43 years after a blind date............................and I was a sailor! (You'd think I'd know better?)

JB

43 years nice going, I am jealous.

*sigh* There'll be no love for Lawlass on Valentine's Day.

Another awwww.. hug from me as well.

I am sure you will find someone, hopefully the next engagement is a little more planned.

As for me, still single and not looking yet, so nothing planned for Valentine's Day. Not intent on going out and finding someone or speed dating. A friend's birthday falls on the same day, but I doubt she will have a big celebration (usually reserves that day for family).

Don't leave it too long, but I guess you got your study to concentrate on first.

Sounds like a good reason for a drink but I think you were flying away that day.

Should we wish Chilli happy birthday tomorrow on the AFF Happy Birthday Thread.

I am going to reward myself with a status run

MEL-OOL-MEL

Nice one.

That reminds me about 3 years ago a few of us did an F lounge run on the 14 Feb, well it was a Saturday, it was a fun day out with a few friends, I am sure the regulars could guess the airline.

And the answer is from the trivia above.... 141 million Valentine's Day cards exchanged annually!

Well I am spending it with one of my bestfriends (who actually has a boyfriend this year) but hey I am a super friend so I deserve the time more - she talked me into going to the 1927/roxette concert in brisbane.......it will be interesting......its payback I think for making her go to sydney with me for Bon Jovi a few years ago!!

Now my wife has gone to bed, I can get her Valentines Day present out of the car and have it ready for presenting tomorrow morning.

To answer the question, no I didn't give her flowers this year - instead, I am adding to her collection of interesting things she can put into a large glass fishbowl that I bought her 3 or 4 years ago...this year is wooden balls (about the size of bocce balls)

I've just put my order through, for delivery tomorrow. The msg comes from Africa.. but the goods come from a local supplier in London :D

It's finally Valentine's Day in Brisbane (1 hr earlier for those of you on the rest of the Eastern seaboard).

I just finished and submitted a first draft of a conference paper. Spent the good part of at least 6 hours and most of today working on it (as well as everything else).

Right now I don't need any long stemmed roses. No chocolates. Not even love. Just willpower and someone to believe that I can finish this beleaguering thesis.....

Why be overly romantic for one day a year, what about the other 364/5 days a year?

It is Elektra the opera at the Maj in Perth tonight.
100 minutes of show and is a sell out!
Good luck everyone with your romantic gestures!

Valentines Day present was a surprise....my daughter was awake, so we took in a cuppa and the gift wrapped present - looks like it's a winner. Think she, for the first time in living memory, was genuinely surprised and hasn't got me anything (which is fine). Off to walk the dogs whilst she recovers from the shock :D

Brownie points balance recovered (well, back into positive again)!

I'm off to Big W to buy my wife a nice Teddy Bear / Chocolate combination. (Bonus EDR points, lol)

She'll give my daughter the bear, and I'll get the chocolate. It's win/win! Or actually, win/win/win.

No romantic dinner though, I have to work :(
