I'm looking at booking SYD-LHR (via SIN). However, I also want to take sometime to one/two other countries in SE Asia. I noticed on the J fare it is mention that "4 stopovers are permitted." What exactly is a stopover? Does that mean that I could delay the second leg, say by 10 days and do some independent travel in this time?

Thanks.

Generally, a stopover on an international routing is one when it's more than 24 hours between arrival and departure from a port, as distinct from a transit being 24 or less.

Sometimes with stopovers, there's additional taxes/levies/charges to pay than compared with a transit.

So what I'm suggesting would be possible? There's no limit to how long the stopover can be?

There is a limit in terms of your ticket validity, QF use this as their explanation:

means a deliberate interruption of a journey by the Passenger for more than 24 hours, at a point between the place of departure and the destination, which is shown on the Passenger’s Ticket
