Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

IMO having J* as the first passenger flight ex WSI gives the impression WSI is the LCA....low cost airport!

When is the Aussie airline Qf, going to fly internationally ex WSI?

OTP is going to be coughpy for these JQ flights as they use the same one aircraft to operate MEL-WSI-MEL-WSI-OOL-WSI-MEL. Three not so great airports that often involve coughpy weather or congestion at some point each day. The rolling delays are pretty ordinary looking at today for example.

I probably won’t use these flights again after my trial box ticking trip next month, purely for that reason. At least I’ll probably know well ahead of time if the flight is going to be late.

Well considering that they're only flying to BNE and MEL with planes with less than 100 pax and not until end of March 2027, I'm betting not before 2028

Check in and bag drop hall- interesting that the machines are programmed for Qantas given they’re not flying here for a while. Then up to escalators to departures- sadly the official opening ceremony long gone. International on the left, domestic on the right. Unsure if the security staff are all new or overly sensitive or what but I triggered an alert on the body scanner (despite not having done so in 3 airports the last 2 days) and both of my bags were also flagged for manual searches

We drove there in late August and it was very pleasant but like you I would not be keen on being there in winter. We stayed just up the road in Louisbourg and one morning the sea fog reduced visibility to about 1 km.
In the 80s one time in Maine and one port had a ferry to Nova Scotia. Fortunately in hose days you could book as you go so we intended to book when we got there. The day arrived and there was dense fog. Asked when the expected the fog to rise and the answer was July. we scrubbed the idea of the ferry.

This was in the master plan. It’s fairly ambitious. I’m not so sure that 40-50 domestic departures a day is overly realistic in 3 years time. Happy to be proven wrong, but it just seems like a lot.

If the place had some rapid transit into the city for 20 mins or something then they might be able to drive some demand. But we can barely get suburban rail done right let alone rapid transit. I’ll only really use the airport it fares are stupidly priced from Mascot.

Well JQ could do a swap in Melbourne potentially if they have an aircraft available. How is it different to another daily a320 rotation going elsewhere on the JQ network
