And so it begins.

Plenty of people end up in Austria in a similar way...

Indeed - although perhaps “western Sydney” wasn’t the best idea in hindsight, when one of those words is the same as “Western Australia”

For locals it’s a no brainer but for visitors I can kinda understand.

I can’t think of another city that uses a geographical term to name an airport - ie “western”

Perhaps Sydney Penrith or something similar would have been better

We won’t mention Sydney, Nova Scotia, AKA Eastern Sydney
I have been to Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada by car. Across the water from Sydney, NS, is North Sydney, NS
Interesting region different to the rest of Canada. But would not like to be there mid winter.

It’s a pity that JQ are part of the QF group otherwise they could sell YL fares out of WSI.
YL=. economy plus lounge. That would not amuse the QF crowd. But I would be LMAO.

We drove there in late August and it was very pleasant but like you I would not be keen on being there in winter. We stayed just up the road in Louisbourg and one morning the sea fog reduced visibility to about 1 km.
