Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Numerous 2-3hrs delays and the odd cancellation. I started getting messages just before midnight and had to start organising getting freight back to SYD and on to pax or tag flights. Been an absolute mess of a day
Good old hindsight suggests ghosting ops across the two airports might have been a better option. I have memories of HKG and landing at the new airport on the first day, it was not pretty.

'SMH" online features a resident of the Oaks (near Macarthur and Campbelltown, and 25km as the crow flies from WSI) complaining about aircraft noise in the 'small hours' from freighter plane(s) flying to Melbourne or Adelaide.

The point was made that the Oaks is not on a flight path route. I've not looked up the information to test that claim.

Yet in Luddenham a kilometre from WSI, no aircraft noise, presumably because not below a flight path.

The Blue Mountains Lord Mayor is also quoted stating that his community is being treated differently from residents of inner Sydney, with the latter having the implied benefit of a curfew at SYD.

Classic NIMBY
The difference being Victorian era houses in Marrickville predate SYD by several decades.

Those NIMBYs bought cheap land after report after report recommended the site for WSI…hence very cheap land…
