Numerous 2-3hrs delays and the odd cancellation. I started getting messages just before midnight and had to start organising getting freight back to SYD and on to pax or tag flights. Been an absolute mess of a day

Good old hindsight suggests ghosting ops across the two airports might have been a better option. I have memories of HKG and landing at the new airport on the first day, it was not pretty.

It was Qantas staffing issue and it was predictable and preventable. Only had how many years to be prepared?
