Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Not sure if this has been posted here yet or not, but the video in the link below provides a good perspective on what the "customer experience" will be like, even showing glimpses of what I assume is a lounge facility

Did think it was interesting the signage says "Welcome to Sydney". I'd have thought it should have read "Welcome to Western Sydney".

Fixed it, you're welcome👍

Maybe MEL should be called Essendon West International Airport?
Only if Avalon took the title of Melbourne International airport too
You can catch the Airport West tram to get to Essendon, so that's already taken. Maybe Sunbury East?
It is "Tullamarine" ... (or "Tulla") ... that's what us locals refer to it as!

(Similar to "Badgery's Creek")
Badgerys Creek

North Geelong, East is a bit watery.

A bit hilly. You Yangs. If we're going down that path "Geelong North East Airport" or perhaps just "Geelong International Airport" as it's just as close to Geelong CBD as MEL is to Melbourne CBD. Or why not do a Basel and have more than one name.

Wouldn't Moorabbin or tyabb have been the logical second airports for Melbourne? 2 airports on the west side of the city connected by the better freeways were never going to coexist with any success.
Honestly if moorabin expanded to take a few domestic flights a day i reckon some might use it. A220 or smaller sized flying SYD/WSI/BNE. Heck i would probably use it. 15mins to moorabin vs 90mins to Tullamarine.

Like Bankstown in Sydney, AFAIK the runways are too short for commercial jet ops. So not going to happen.

Besides, MEL has room to expand - so hardly any argument for a second Melbourne airport (besides the existing AVV).
