Wendouree allocations and general discussion

Received in PER today. I just assume this will be my fourth year of filling out an order and getting nothing. Although this year there is a green crayon mark, whatever that might mean.

that's a step in the right direction - 2 years ago I had a blank order form which resulted in 0, last year I was green crayon and I received my order of 6 (different mix though), and am green again this year. Good luck.

Prices for 2023 vintage are

Shiraz Mataro - $60 unch
Shiraz Malbec - $60 unch
Shiraz - $80 up $5
Shiraz 24 - $80 up $5
Malbec $65 unch
Cab Malbec -$75 up $5
Cab Sav - $75 up $5
I have all my order forms from when I first started buying, 2014 vintage, so had a look back at pricing then for those interested:
Shiraz Mataro - $45
Shiraz Malbec - $45
Shiraz - $60
Malbec - $45
Cab Malbec - $55
Cab Sav - $55
Muscat - $25 (now $30)

Without researching I would assume the price changes are largely in line with the CPI over that period. I'd also suggest demand has increased in this time and supply has been restricted to a degree (6 bottle limit introduced across all wines), meaning very reasonable pricing.

The secondary market average price change over this time would make an interesting comparison.

I send a letter last year and received a letter back saying they wouldn’t burden me with a list of wines I could order but the good news is they put me on the mailing list… fast forward 12 months and I have received the exact same letter “good news you’re now on our mailing list”.

Is this normal or is it an administrative error?

I believe that this is normal. Although the process seems evolving all the time.

Here is my chronology. Initially I have written to them in March 2021 and they replied that it would probably take years and will test my patience to be on the list.

Later that year in July I received a letter that they can't supply and if I still want to be on the list, I need to write back to confirm so in order to be on it.

In July 2022 I received a letter that the crops were miniscule and they still cannot supply but I will remain on the list unless I write to them to remove myself from it.

In July 2023 I received an order form that I filled out and returned. They wrote later in August apologising for not being able to supply any wine.

In July 2024 they sent me an order form again marked with a green crayon and supplied with every wine to the full extent (almost) except for Shiraz 24

I just received my letter and an order form yesterday (I am in Sydney), and will be sending it back to them later today perversely hoping for the biggest hit on my CC!

Hope it helps

the exact same dates & journey for me

Normal. Be patient. The wines are popular and there is limited stock. Loyalty will be rewarded. Some of us have been buying for more than 30 years, so loyalty isn't just when it suits you. There's a signficiant number of people that buy every year without fail decade after decade.

Letter finally arrived in NW Tas today….. had a great run with Wendouree to start with - all 18 bottles ordered supplied as ordered - but not for the last 3 years. Hopefully this year I get a bit more of my order and @Dr Ralph ‘s post above suggesting loyalty being rewarded comes to fruition……. My 10th year buying, red crayon. I have opened some Shiraz mataro, Shiraz Malbec and straight Malbec but 10 years in and I haven’t opened a straight Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet Malbec. CellarTracker tells me I have 122 bottles of Wendouree- as a collector missing two vintages of Shiraz has reset my loyalty. My wine budget isn’t open ended and if I am not going to get much of what I order from Wendouree I am at the point where I would rather order elsewhere earlier in the year . (eg Standish, Chatto, Tolpuddle, Mount Mary) than keep my powder dry for a non-event. Guess we will see what eventuates this year. Maybe it will help other affers get something if I drop off the list. Qantas do the same, us suckers are loyal but at some point we are let down hard enough to wake up. Rant over…..

Here here Steady.
Red crayon since initial letter, circa 2014. Mail back next day religiously. Requested all to nearly all every year with varying degrees of response. Two years ago got a "sorry not sorry" letter despite previous years of 'loyalty'.
What limited funds have going forward will prefentially go to Standish, Sami-Odi, Tolpuddle and Rockford each year.
Don't mention qantas ha...
