As many of you would be, I am a cricket fanatic and had planned a week of annual leave to spend interstate relaxing and then returning before the first day of the second test here in Adelaide.

With the sad passing of Phillip Hughes, the tests were rescheduled and I was now in a pickle being interstate when I should have been at the first day of the (newly appointed) first test for what will be a day not to be missed. First port of call was Qantas to see what could be done regarding my flights as I am willing to miss the holiday in lieu of seeing test cricket.

I was on the phone to Qantas asking what can be done given the circumstances. To their credit, they cancelled my booking, waived all change fees and have provided me with a credit to be used within a year. This was over and above what I expected Qantas to deliver.

So thank you to Qantas for being understanding. I would imagine I am not the only customer in this situation and I hope others who speak to Qantas receive the same level of service as I do.

Yes, they have announced on their website flexibility re this. And yes - well done Qantas, it was a nice gesture, and just goes to show how much goodwill they can get when they get it right. Just a pity that happens less and less these days

Vale Phillip Hughes.

We scheduled additional services to Coffs Harbour to assist people wishing to attend the funeral today. As a tribute, many of our airport teams across the network have
#putoutyourbats above boarding gates.

With a number of cricket test matches being rescheduled, we're giving customers who were travelling to the matches options for their booked travel. Customers with valid tickets to and from Brisbane, Adelaide and Sydney for the originally scheduled matches can reroute or rebook their travel, change destinations or get a credit for the value of the ticket.
