We're always working to improve the Qantas Frequent Flyer program and an important part of this is understanding what our members think.

To help us with this, we'd appreciate 10 minutes of your time to provide your opinions.

Ergo, an independent market research company, has been commissioned to help Qantas undertake this confidential survey.

The survey will close at 11.59pm AEST Tuesday 16th June 2015.

Thank you for your time.

New QF Survey - credit cards

Just got a survey appear in my inbox about credit cards. I was expecting it would kick me out when I answered an early question that I had one and no longer do, but it let me keep going.

Seems to be about card benefits, offering some options and asking which you prefer such as

[h=2]Status Accelerator
Tier status provides significant benefits when flying with your rewards program’s airline partner. With this card, you can earn status credits at a faster rate when flying with your rewards program’s airline partner that help build towards higher tier status.

 • Below $10,000 spend on card p.a. - no status accelerator
 • $10,000 to $50,000 spend on card p.a. - earn status credits at 1.25x standard rate
 • Above $50,000 spend on card p.a. - earn status credits at 1.5x standard rate
Premium Traveller
With this card you have

 • Complimentary insurances of up to 3 months travel insurance and 3 months purchase security and 1 year extended warranty
 • Access to a Priority Service Line
 • Special Concierge service
[/h]Is also suggesting that QF might get into the card issuing business themselves, like Coles and Woolworths have.
Asks about how important different aspects of a card are in picking one (annual fee, issuer, card level, earn rate, etc)
Second half gives 3 card options with different earn, issuer, fee, rewards program, card level etc, then asks you to pick one follow by how likely you would get that card in the next year. 9 sets of options.

Big change to QF credit card options coming?

Yes I got it too but it seemed only Interested in credit cards with reward points so I didn't get very far.

Re: New QF Survey - credit cards

Definitely like the first para and could potentially warrant a reasonable fee. Would also make me strongly consider going bak to QFF if I could get WP for sub-1000 SCs. Might upset the BIS P1/WPs though.

Second para is a bit ho-hum. Although all the Platinum cards offer insurances and concierge I'd not pay extra for either (and wouldn't miss if gone)

I got it too but I have no patience for surveys that make me write stuff as opposed to clicking boxes so dropped out around the 37% mark.

Many surveys accept writing thing like "N/A" in boxes like that.

Re: New QF Survey - credit cards

The Status Accelerator idea sounds ok, kind of like a permanent 50% SC bonus.

Re: New QF Survey - credit cards

I just got a survey from Qantas but the link doesn't work - sighhhhh

Re: New QF Survey - credit cards

MrsB (SG) was doing it, but it hangs about 48% completed on iPad.

Restarted & continuing.

PS
got it. i really want the status bonus if it comes out.
if they offer it to platinum and above amex and bank cars too that would be awesome

Re: New QF Survey - credit cards

I have this survey too and am completing it now.

Re: New QF Survey - credit cards

Have I understood the status accelerator thing correctly: a credit card that would earn you status credits with QF?

I think it was that the card would earn you 1.25 or 1.5 the normal SCs when you fly. IOW, you still need to fly to earn SCs.

I wonder once they get enough people on this 1.5 SC earn they will enhance the normal SC you earn and well be back to square one (except for those without the card, they'll be worse off)

I completed this survey yesterday & I found the questions & scenarios very interesting.

Certainly appears that a status accelerator is being considered ( I'm very supportive of this so long as the number of status credits required to reach/maintain various status levels doesn't increase).
Also a Qantas branded credit card more or less issued & owned by Qantas themselves ( probably using a partner for financing) is being considered.

And questions in the survey relating to a minimum of two guaranteed classic award bookings sounds quite attractive.

Will be interesting to see what new initiatives may be in the pipeline in relation to new credits offered in the market in the future.

I expect they are looking at a status accelerator for several reasons, for their own branded card and financial product reasons but could it also be the downwards shift in status earned by the entire QFF ecosystem due to Simple and Fairer? (Where they basically said if you don't fly QF or JQ metal then you can bugger off?) I imagine the mass exodus of higher tier and LTG people to AA and other FF schemes is starting to be noticed?

And questions in the survey relating to a minimum of two guaranteed classic award bookings sounds quite attractive.

Probably to counter the widespread perception that its impossible to redeem QFF points on QF metal at a reasonable rate/timeframe and people not able to plan commit to flying 355 days in advance?

Yes it will be, as you say, its just market research at the moment but you never know.
