Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know about our experience getting tested this morning at Melbourne Airport.

We are flying to the US tomorrow morning, so thought we would go today to get our PCR tests at Histopath. We pre-booked online, and arrived around 10am this morning. There was no line at all and we walked straight in. The security guy asked us when we were flying, but didn't ask to see any proof at all. When you book, they say to bring a passport or drivers licence, but they really prefer passports as they can scan them and all the information gets entered automatically. We had once of each, so it took an extra minute while the nurse manually entered my information from my license.

Once our info was entered in, they quickly did our tests. As our flights aren't until tomorrow, we were free to leave the airport straight away, and received our negative results by both SMS and email about an hour later. When we are back at the airport tomorrow for our flights, we can just go past Histopath again to pick up our official print outs.

I had been quite anxious about this part of the process, largely because the Histopath website says they are only doing tests on the day of your flight. In reality, the day before was fine for us, and we got the results quickly and stress free.

Happy travelling everyone!

Have a great trip!

As a counter to this post....

Yesterday evening my in-laws were leaving to go back to the US, so booked an appointment at our GP yesterday morning and went down there and took a RAT, GP signed their CDC forms, stamped their test result etc.

At check-in, QF staff refused their test result saying it didn't have an "official stamp". Anyone know what this "official stamp" is? So they had to go get an airport test and nearly missed the flight.

The CDC form (Attestation) has no space or requirement for a GP to sign. This is meant to be completed by the traveller certifying they've got all the documentation required for entry.

There is specific information that must be on the test result - and given it was just a GP test, sounds like they didn't know what was expected and thus it was refused by QF. There is no form or stamp. Having said that, if it's a hard copy Histopath do certify it's a true copy with a stamp, but that's not a requirement.

If you're going somewhere that doesn't specialise in travel testing, buyer beware I guess.
