This thread is dedicated to the teetotallers on AFF. Yes, there are quite a few of you here....

As the title suggests (and this is for everyone), what would you normally or prefer to drink if there was no alcohol allowed / available?

Caffeine drinks are OK, but you can't, for example, have a coffee that's been Irish'd up (because that involves alcohol). Mocktails are fine (if you know a really good one).

For the sake of simplicity, you may also include alcoholic flavourings (i.e. flavours of an alcoholic drink but no alcohol content) and - one exception - Angostura Bitters, if only used as a dash.

So.... what'll it be, guv'na? :D

Freshly squeezed sugar cane juice, with a dash of lemon in it please.

The CX Mocktail with Kiwi Juice - cant for the life of me remember the name

I believe that's a Cathay Delight - I really like it too. Coconut juice, mint leaves, kiwi fruit... I think that's it.

For me, it's usually orange juice (freshly squeezed preferable, or at least as little sugar as possible) or sparkling water with lemon. Coffee, soy latte (or just latte if no soy milk); otherwise, green tea.

I'll be greedy and nominate three:

Tea
Coke
Strawberry milkshake (I suspect I would struggle to find this choice in an airline lounge)

An additional question for those here: for drinks that may be served cold, do you prefer: room temperature, cold (fridge), very cold (chilled in ice but no ice in drink), little ice or lot of ice?

Seems interesting depending on culture where you go. For example, I think most people in Australia prefer their cold drinks with ice, unless they have sensitive teeth. But if you go to China, it can be blistering hot and they will still typically drink most 'cold' drinks at room temperature. In the USA, when I flew domestically I was always asked whether I preferred ice or not in my drink.

After a recent bout of illness (stupid cold/flu/chest infection) i've cut out the booze for a few weeks and have become decidedly partial to the VA Mocktail in J on the 738 services. Of course on the 330's they have the 'Australia coughtail' which isn't a mocktail, but I think flavour wise I actually prefer the mocktail (and i've decided to be a little more reserved with alcohol consumption for quite some time).

Are you researching for another thesis anat0l? :p

Aside from the extremely rare occasions I drink spirits, where a little ice is usually desirable, I generally detest having ice in any drink. For example, in coke all it does is reduce the amount of coke you get in the glass, and (to my taste anyway) waters it down. As for beer or wine, unthinkable. That said, I prefer soft drink and beer chilled but not really really ice cold like some do. And if confronted by warm coke on a hot day, I'll reluctantly bend and have a bit of ice in it.

Good grief no!

Just thought I'd create something that generates conversation (like many other topics on this forum)! :)

Except this might not be as exciting as "How to consume 8 bottles of Champagne on one long haul flight", or "The Alcohol-Fueled Anecdotes of TonyHancock "... though I wonder sometimes that the teetotallers here sometimes just roll their eyes when they hear of our alcoholic exploits. (You can't really have such a conquest with the non-alcoholic drinks, can you?)

I have reported this thread to all mods.

It has absolutely NO place on this forum!!:p:p
