Was I (unintentionally) on one of the shortest flights in Australia?

With how bad the traffic is between Brisbane and the Gold Coast during peak hour - reckon the airlines could muscle up a few passengers keen to skip the car park each day.

But real question is how long before we see a WSI-SYD flight after one of Sydney's famous weather events.

I’m 2 SC short of retaining gold with 2 months to go, so a Melbourne to Avalon status run, or even better Melbourne to Essendon, would be very welcome 🙂

On a more serious note, what is best way to ask for gold? Phone or email? And how far out should I ask? I have a 100 SC work trip in 7 weeks (not booking for a while yet), but if it slips a week…

I believe phone is the way to go. Don't like the response you can always call up again, but unsure if you will get approved that far out from your membership year ending. I was under the impression it was more a couple of SCs short and a week or two remaining.

Something useful (that some people on here may not like) is using ChatGPT or Claude to make your argument if you give it the problem. I've found it excellent when I've written a complaint but need to make it clearer with more intent and it's been great at polishing it. Just asking it out of the blue without guidance is not as effective I've found. I can't say whether it has made a difference but I've been successful with my claims each time so there's that. It gives me a little more confidence that 'someone' has given it the once-over before sending.

Props to the crew who handled things really well, including passengers who wanted to get off at BNE (there were about half a dozen who did).
What was the outcome, were some allowed off?

When a similar diversion happened to me in Europe many years ago, it seemed like almost half the plane wanted to get off there. From memory only those without checked luggage were allowed to disembark. We had checked luggage so decided to stay on.
