I saw those LHR-LAS services and that is pretty cool, as I want to visit LAS without having to go via SFO / LAX

Sorry to interrupt here but I'm looking at my own DONE4; along the lines of DPS-NRT-SYD-LHR-BCN-HEL-IST-LHR-SFO-DFW-ANC-ORD-YVR-MIA-JFK-HKG-DPS ... which appears valid (ignoring the errors) ;)

so now I could potentially fly LHR-LAS-DFW instead

@ Alanslegal - I'm surpirsed there's no LHR-DFW direct flight?

@ Natt - Do you make the cookies, or do you just really really like them? I think i missed something with the whole cookie thing ....:shock::oops:

Wow thats awesome to know - Zurich was actually where we wanted to go (Alpine Express Train).

Its actually Zurich to Washington - that might actually help with taxes too (maybe?)

and its a route
United Suite Dreams

Hmm that sounds like a winner then?

I would actually highly recommend SWISS over United if SWISS is also offering the new flat bed product on that route. SWISS has one of the best service, catering and wine list in C amongst the *A carriers. :)

Well I have trawled through many flyertalk posts and it seems like the zurich-new york with Swiss is on the new planes (at least for some of them)

Can anyone else give an opinion on Swiss vs United - It looks like when swiss are good they are really good, but when they are bad its not pretty (frozen solid desserts in first class).

Docjames I like cookies, but I was offering them :D. Noone took me up on the offer though  I was not planing to cook them though unless someone is keen on choc chip ones or rock cakes which is about what I can manage.

Oh on a related note with Continental joining star alliance there should be a whole new lot of routes coming online including a Seattle to anchorage and a tasty (although not for us) Houston to Lima!

For the OW routing a Global Explorer ticket will let you use Alaskan giving a lot more possibilities for ANC.
When is Longyearbyen taking place. We will be there next August but on a DONE4 and the flights to the Artic as an extra.Wasnt that expensive booked well in advance.Hotels-well thats another story!

We are still umming about Longyearbyen - if the hotel up there has a good rate going we will look at again but the cost is turning us off. We were prepared to camp but looking around I think we might prefer a trip up along the Aleutian Islands

We have decided to go Star Alliance, and will proabably pick up Anchorage as a separate flight

Sounds like you have a very exciting Arctic adventure planned - thats awesome:!:
