Anyone done VOA at Jakarta recently with Australian Passport? I have been googling and trying to get clarity on this as it appears it might not be possible?

But majority of websites are Bali focussed, and the Indonesian consulate/embassy websites appear to have zero info or I am just cough at looking for it.

Going mid September.

Yes, a few weeks ago i went to Jakarta. I dont really understand your question. Turn up, pay $50 aussie and you are in, just like it was before. wait a sec maybe it is $53? .. i might have used the ATM next to the visa cashier and paid in roops, 500 ribu. sorry in dont remember exactly

They dont take a card for payment. Has to be cash. There was a list of prices on the wall.

Best site for current info in english is www.indonesia.nl

Rp 500,000 which is what we paid in Bali.

They offered to put it through as AUD$52 on the EFTpos terminal that the agent uses. We always process in the local currency and hit our bank at $48.

Thanks all. Reason for my question is the discrepancies in info, so thanks for answering:
  • Looks like Jakarta is cash only, can't use card like in Bali?
  • I couldn't find anything on the embassy website: https://kemlu.go.id/canberra/en
  • One website I looked at had it valid for Bali, but not Jakarta.

I guess so. I specifically asked to pay by card because i heard it was possible but he said "no". but if you know indonesia that could mean many different things 😅

Be interesting to see what you find out when you get there.

The arrivals hall at Bali is a mess around the VOA area. The agents had wireless EFTPOS terminals.

Prior to Covid I am sure the VOA had been phased out. Looking in Mrs Albatross passport her entry in 2018 had a waiver stamp.

I have been to Jakarta 3 times this year and can confirm CASH only and 500,000 Rupiah. Its quite quick and painless. The ATM in the customs hall gives a pretty reasonable rate of you don't happen to have cash.

The Kemlu (MFA) embassy website is incomplete, they'd rather update their "own" website at Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra - Home.

VOA is issued in Jakarta as well as other major ports of entry (Soekarno Hatta is the int'l airport in Jakarta, CGK):
  1. Visit Visa Exemption and Visa on Arrival for Leisure Purpose are granted for foreign nationals at:
  1. Airports: (i) Soekarno Hatta, Banten; (ii) Ngurah Rai, Bali; (iii) Kualanamu, North Sumatra; (iv) Juanda, East Java; (v) Sultan Hasanuddin, South Sulawesi; (vi) Sam Ratulangi, North Sulawesi; and (vii) Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

VOA is priced at IDR 500K (PNBP means state revenue, so no tax on top of that):
Visit Visa Exemption and Visa on Arrival for Leisure Purpose can be issued accordingly with the following requirements:
  1. Passport (diplomatic/official/ordinary) that is valid for a minimum of 6 (six) months from the arrival date,
  2. A return ticket or a pass to continue the trip to another country,
  3. Proof of payment of PNBP Visa on Arrival of 500,000 IDR (in the case of applying for a Visa on Arrival for Leisure Purpose),

Does anyone know if it’s still cash only at Jakarta? Would do the eVOA but I really can’t be bothered/don’t have time to get photos for the whole family!

eVOA is straight forward. Just take a decent selfie with your phone.

We passed through CGK two weeks ago with eVOA. Very quiet when QF41 arrived and straight through.

Hi thank you. Does it come straight away after applying? We’re flying on QF41 too :)
