Went to Sydney from the Gold Coast last week. Received an email from Virgin telling me that
the entertainment would be streamed on the aircraft. Downloaded the appropriate app, followed all
the instructions and looked forward to trying out the wireless in flight system.
Boarding was quick and efficient with a very obvious priority lane that was well policed. Took our
extended leg room seats in an exit row and settled down to watch on my iPad. Opened the app
to find a choice of 30 movies, numerous TV shows, music and etc. Chose a doco to watch, plugged in
my noise cancelling headphones and then the torture started - Sorry Mr........... you can't use your
earphones whilst sitting in an exit row - you have to use ours. OK said I and received a set of plastic ear
buds designed to "break" in an emergency.
Would not fit in my ears, woeful sound and destroyed any any chance of enjoying the apparently excellent
entertainment on offer - in fact total torture !
I have been wondering if I managed to upset the FA or if she was having "go" at me for fun or if this is
the regulation.
No mention on the return trip when I used my headphones.

We were tortured on our way home from from MEL via ADL to PER. It would have been OK if my partner was not with me but she was and so it is less likely that she will want us to go VA any time soon as a couple.
I might try a PER-MEL-PER in J as my son said the product was pretty good.
