Is it just me, or did anyone notice a massive price jump in the cheap fare for both Virgin & Qantas this morning?

Flight MEL-BNE;
Virgin Saver Lite is now $145
Qantas Red e-Deal is now $179

From memory wasn't a non-sale saver MEL-BNE only $119 just yesterday? Am i losing my mind?

Normally I see SYD-BNEorMEL as $139 on Qantas Red-E-Deal don't look at Mel-BNE often but assume it would be more

I know virgin had a fare increase overnight, not sure on the QF eDeal price though

I was looking at grabbing one of the MEL-SYD sale fates @ $75 each to boost me up to gold - came on this morning (before they extended their sale) to see non-sale savers are now $115. I must admit i don't often look at Qantas for domestic flights, but it just looked higher to me than normal again. Maybe I was just in Virgin shock.

This might explain it, at least in part

Haha - yep that does! I remember reading this but obviously glossing over the domestic part as i thought they would only raise international. That being said, I thought MEL-BNE was $119-129 - $145 is much more than a 3% jump.

Yes much more than a 3% jump, but from memory with VA, their sale was due to finish on 21 Aug

Ah ok, wasn't aware of that. I notice VA still has BNE-MEL fares from $99

Yeah but all the dates cover the period of their massive sales pre-fin year with crazy discounts to get you to spend big. All my flights we booked for that period back then, so no real benefit.

I suppose I shouldn't complain - A few of their flexi fares have come down in price (my most traveled route MEL-OOL specifically) which is what i really need to start booking for status upgrades and point upgrade redemption.

I have been eying off BNE/MEL flights after Easter - they had been $174 non sale - so have increased by $5 ...
