For anyone thinking of this one, to earn VFF points, some points to think of.
You only earn 8 Go card points per transaction so if you make 4 transactions, you will only earn 32 Go card points.
Its not earnt per $1, its how many transactions per day, 8 multiplied by how many transactions.
A bit of a downer, but on the collection side, it looks ok, ...
So, if you made purchase of $1000, but in 8 transactions, you will only earn 64 Go card points on the Virgin Money system.
Putting that to VFF, it would divide by half so, 32 VFF points.

Worth noting that this bank account earns Virgin Money points, not Velocity points. They aren't the same thing.
Yes, but Virgin Money points can be converted to Velocity (or Accor, or Marriott, or Etihad, or Qatar, or United).
The 5,000 point sign up offer does have some value (although that ends up being 2,500 Velocity Points)

I think a few Bankwest veterans might be able to suggest ways to maximise returns on this...

Nak, Bankwest has stopped the QFF liaison, so QP is the debit one now.
On the credit side, lots of options.
On the debit side, for VFF, its only FB is the only one, where you can use any debit card to earn FB points... but its a pain having to walk to Coles, mine is about 10 mins away.
FB linked fuel, in South Aus, very few Reddy Express left.
Yes, the VM card is not the best, but its a good way, for those who cant or wont or dont want to live in hock to earn points, yes, I know, some people do it.
As they say, beggars cant be choosers.
I got the VM card, didnt really read it in depth, thought wow, 8 points per $1, but then it hit.
But will keep the card anyway, anything to keep my VFF account points alive, apart from FB.
Also FB cant be earnt on a lot of things, ie, bpay, buying outside of Westfarmers ilk.

Forget those lame 24 month exlusion periods, this baby comes with this one:

do not currently hold, nor have ever held any Virgin Money product (home loan, deposit, savings or credit card) that is accessible on the Virgin Money app either solely or jointly in your name

I wonder how long they keep people’s details on file. Virgin Money/Velocity cards date back to 2010 and it’s had ownership changes since, certainly operate on different platforms now.

New Offer which seems pretty decent if you have some spending commitments coming up. Must join via the Velocity landing page.

I joined and it only took a few minutes, card arrives next week.

Still waiting on a response to my application. Did the ID verification, then nothing...

I believe they are obliged to keep details on file for 7 years (something to do with AML rules). Retaining data is expensive so I’d say they only keep it on file for the bare minimum.

I figured. I closed the Virgin Money card back in 2011. I will report back if the points do post.

Since VGW got closed, this is the best.
Yes it's 8 points per transaction, but apart from FB, I am hooked.
Tho they might make it harder to warn with the RBA rules changes.

The Amex offer of old came to mind with 4 points per transaction...

10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions - Was this really 18 years ago ?

Sadly the T&C's are solid on this one :(

When you will not earn points
............
Examples of conduct that may constitute gaming includes, but is not limited to, the following:1. Splitting a purchase made using your Debit Card orBPay transaction into multiple smaller valuetransactions;2. Conducting repeated low value BPay transactions orpurchase transactions at the same merchant withina short period of time; or3. Other conduct taken to artificially increase theoverall number of transactions on your account.

I'll do it for an easy 10K of VFF though

Still nothing. Tried again with my driver licence a few hours ago and was promised an SMS with the outcome. Crickets. Then tried the passport and was refused so who knows what's going on with my application?!?

This does make me think they will have the same T&Cs for future credit card offers (which will probably have greater bonus point offers). Might pass up on this one and keep an eye peeled for creidt card offers.
