Re: Virgin Platinum Visa

I guess alright unless you live in WA or NT.

Good to see the LCC kicking in again with a "free flight" provided it's a cheap one in the area of our choosing.

Matt

Terms and conditions don't say otherwise - we will be trying this as soon as we get the card.
Change of plan, my wife's application was rejected. Apparently salary sacrificing a reasonable amount of money into the home loan and meals and entertainment means it is no longer counted as "income". There's no point in me applying becuase work will be paying for my flights on our next trip so I wouldn't be able to use the 2-for-1.

Change of plan, my wife's application was rejected.

As was my Mum's (No-annual fee), not enough Income even though she is above the minimum requirement and doesn't owe anything. However her partner's application for the flyer black card was approved so no biggie, so we thought

A Warning about the 2-for-1 offer!!!

When booking 2-for-1 flights make sure you check Seatcounter, Expertflyer or whatever you like to use for F class (I.e Go! Fare) Availability on the flight you want before you call the GCC. if there is no go! fares on the flight? No Free ticket for you:evil:, wish we had of known that before we got the card, oh well, our next flight is free anyway (as a result of the other promotion they have) and 1pointt per $ isn't too shabby, there are better earn and burn cards than this one but I can't be stuffed looking

I'm not sure that's right, the limited time offer free flight must be booked in Go!, but the 2-for-1 deal expressly excludes Go! fares:

It appears that way when you see this part:

Virgin Money said:
1. The offer is available to Primary Virgin Flyer Credit Card holders for direct and formal connection Virgin
Blue Australian domestic flights sold in Blue Saver, Flexible, Corporate Plus and Premium Economy fare
classes.

Then it says:

Virgin Money said:
3. Availability of the offer is subject to seat availability in F class of the GO fare family.

It's bullcrap really, the second ticket should book into the same class, How many people are going to get caught out by this:evil:, If I find out that this is wrong and they should have been able to book it into the blue saver class (which I have since booked) I will be ringing Virgin blue and asking for my $528 back (The cost of the ticket which should have been free)

Gah! That is quite a complex trap. Given that there's not much availability of F on a lot of flights it makes the whole deal far less appealing.

Not only complex, but, if it books into the the low fare class, they are misrepresenting the offer on their website:

This seems inconsistent with the Terms and Conditions linked.

I would suggest taking this up with Virgin Money, and if your relied on the statement made on the website in making a decision to take the card up, you may be able to seek advice from the relevant authority re - deceptive conduct.. Also, it is hard to justify saying it offers a 50% discount if the free one has to come out of the lowest bucket. What fare rules are applicable to the 'free' ticket?

Good idea oz_mark,

I will give both Virgin Blue and Virgin Money a call tomorrow and see what is going on, I'm sure they will both have two completely different excuses (No, its so and so's fault etc.)

Nevertheless I would like a straight answer as to why there is conflicting information on the website and the terms and conditions.

Also, Aren't F class fares on DJ used for promos only (Happy hour etc.)Hence being so limited that it is nearly impossible to access them through this promo. I always thought that go fares booked into R class (Well me MEL-HBA flight for my status run did anyway, and it is a Go! fare)

I was sitting on the fence about getting this card - it did seem to be a good offer I would get value from, but this little game has killed it off for me.

If this is true, it's probably a good thing we were rejected. I remember reading that in the terms and conditions and thinking they must have been wrong.

Initially I thought F class fare, really meant "F"irst

But seriously, the T&Cs is way too inconsistent, and complicated. When I first saw the offer, I wasn't too interested by it. With this issue it kills off my chances of getting one.

Well I gave DJ a call yesterday and asked for further clarification on this, this is some of how the conversation went.

Gave the agent the offer code (As found on the Virgin Money site and Credit Card welcome booklet 2FOR1CC)

Agent looked up the flights and then put me on hold while she checked something about the fare class.

Came back and told me that her, the agent next to her or the supervisor had any idea what an F fare was, she mentioned that her understanding was that the lowest Go! fares were E fares and that she had never heard of a F fare.

So putting it simple, do F class fares even exist?, or has this Credit card just been whacked together without much thought?, what is our next plan of attack from here?, its really an offer which no-one can access:evil:, which is also illegal as they can not provide a service which they are advertising

I called today out of interest, and was told by the DJ staff that, as long as a GO fare was available, the offer stood. I repeatedly asked the question to both the agent and his manager and was told that 'it just needs to be a GO fare'.

Maybe the F class was a misprint?

Well if thats the case I will be seeking the $528 back for our ticket that should have been free:evil:

I'm very angry now, they lied to me, I'm ready to go back to QF TBH, the face to face product is nice but the backend is cough:evil::evil::evil:

Try that offer code, Josh.

EDIT: I should note that I was talking to Manila (or wherever DJ's offshore CC is) so maybe they haven't a clue about the deal and were just trying to get rid of me...

Correctling myself, it was 2FOR1CC1. I was typing from school and didn't have the info on hand sorry:oops:

Just got off the phone with DJ again, and again to the Manila CC. Gave them a dummy booking for MEL-CBR on a flight that I had checked on the interwebs had GO fares available, gave them the promo code and said I had a Virgin CC (I didn't, but mine's in the mail), and they offered to book the flight.

No fuss, no muss.

Curiouser and curiouser...
