Koyomi Highball / Shochu has been available in the BNE, SYD and MEL lounges for a few months now if you wanted to try something a little different. Only 0.8 standard drinks per can but still very enjoyable IMO.

thanks 👍 will definitely give it a go

Thanks! I didn't know that and missed out in the last 2 days but will try it this weekend...

Welcome! They are typically hidden away in one of the beer fridges and easily missed. You've got three flavours to try as well!
Yeah, in the Melbourne lounge they’re tucked down the bottom, almost out of sight.

The one I tasted was like Fanta. I might stick to the beer. I wish they had gin in the lounges.

Only 2 colours of the rainbow represented in the range of Koyomi Highball blended shochu - I'm having a blood orange and bitters in the BNE lounge now...

Flight delayed so I got the chance to see what is on the menu for lunch in the BNE lounge. Another 2 colours of the rainbow - lemon risotto with chilli flakes...

None in SYD tonight... End of the rainbow is not a happy Velocity Gold!
Post automatically merged:

Pulled beef taco for dinner in the SYD lounge downstairs and vegetarian fried rice upstairs...

Same old beef taco in the SYD lounge tonight...

Another of my favourite - green curry chicken - in the BNE lounge tonight

I was thinking about the original thread starting in 2013 and 7 years later. My $0.02 is over that time I've seen an actual improvement in food... I don't know if anyone else would agree with that but the whole 'pop up' hot meal thing didn't seem to even exist back in 2013..

Well the mel lounge is atrocious tonight, packed, dirty and the only food (apart from the salads etc..) is a leek, potato and Parmesan soup 🙁

Museli, fruit & vege quiche this morning in the Wellington Tree House or loft or whatever you want to call it. I miss the old dungeon. 🤣😂

Hungarian Goulash in Sydney lounge today.

As a Hungarian man it was far from the real deal but I didn't expect much. 😂🤣

I will agree with you. All those years ago we complained about random party pies, and those God-awful hot dogs with the stale buns that couldn't hold a bean sprout. I've stopped drinking so can't really comment on the bar side of things any more, however I had a run through QF J lounge at BNE the other week and the bar seemed much more involved what with spirits etc.

The future will not hold much more for us in the ways of lounge food, what with the upcoming financial pressures on the airline, however if they can hold it as-is it'd be ok with me... I see lounge food as something to get me down from hangry, not a culinary experience. :)

I think there are still opportunities to improve lounge food and to manage costs without using the blunt instrument of simply dropping quality or quantity.

I consult in a space that looks at digital transformation all the time and applying the same sort of thinking, VA could be reducing a lot of waste and reinvesting it back into the product. The lounge is a service that some sort of yield management could work on just as effectively as it does on flights..

Melbourne, Saturday pre-midday. Hot options are Thai chicken curry soup (shown) and a leek and something soup.
