Virgin Lounge Food

If VA would introduce hot food into the PER lounge for the afternoon bank of flights over East I would be a very happy camper...
Just sitting in the PER lounge now and I remembered this post.

When I got in at around 16:15 local there was a pumpkin risotto on the bench, along with a minestrone soup (delicious). The risotto disappeared around 16:30 and only the soup left! Melbourne flight doesn't leave til 17:55 (so board around 17:30)...very strange.

Guested Dad in, he wanted the risotto so asked and they found it out the back before it had been tossed and filled a bowl to the brim for him. Very nice gesture, however it's very average as the rice has basically turn to mush, no texture to it at all (even if it tastes fine) and not good to eat.

Happily the minestrone is just as good if not better as MEL on Friday, and usual fare of the Greek salad and toasted sandwich options remain (first time I've seen roast beef in the lounge for sandwiches - and seasoned chicken breast - and ham). Good selection overall.

Pumpkin risotto at OOL on Saturday afternoon. It was ok.

Pizzas in SYD Sunday afternoon (margherita, beef and one other one) and Thai green chicken curry at OOL on arrival Sunday evening.

Noticed on past few visits to the ADL lounge that the muesli has gone from being in one of those larger glass containers next to the Weetbix and others to now a tiny bowl next to the fruit, barely enough in it for one serve.

The pork and apple hotpot isn't too bad, and a nice alternative to the thai soup.

I didn't try the soup but the pieces of pork (few and far between of course) were actually quite nice, though the sauce was nothing special. The mashed potatoes were ok - seemed to be real, rather than powder.

Thanks for keeping this thread going Pleb Status. I would post, but a change in work has seen my wings clipped for the time being...

A Tuscan chicken soup in the PER lounge this afternoon. Normally I would not go for the soup (actually this was the first time ever in any lounge) but I saw someone else with it and it looked pretty good. Enough chunky bits to be interesting.

Chicken burritos with avocado, tomato salsa and cheese in the BNE lounge this afternoon.

In hindsight, I should have gone down the deconstructed route as it was almost impossible to wrap and eat (at least with the amount of filling I had). Lesson learnt....

Lamb hot pot and damper rolls in the SYD lounge this afternoon. Not bad but most of the good bits had been fished out prior to my arrival. Bacon and frittata in the PER lounge this morning.

For interest, the new USB-C sockets in the SYD lounge.
