Hello all, if I were to use a lounge pass from AMEX, does this also allow a guest to enter, or just myself?

Thank you.

check its conditions.
however generally lounge passes are valid for one person (whether holder of pass or his/her guest). Which Amex?

Though i think Platinum Amex Charge Card will have a benefit of cardholder and one guest. But this is not a lounge pass. Its everytime you present a platinum Amex Charge card with your va boarding pass at the lounge.

Guests of Platinum Amex charge card holders must travel on same flight as the holder.

From Platinum Amex Charge Card T&C:

Access is complimentary for Basic Platinum Card member and one guest only. The Basic Platinum Card member and guest must be travelling with Virgin Australia domestically. Access is to Virgin Australia-branded lounges in Australia only. Name on boarding pass must match the name on Platinum Card. The Platinum Card member and guest must present his or her valid Card and same-day boarding pass (containing your Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer number and status) to Virgin Australia lounge agents. One guest per Basic Platinum Card member permitted. Guest must be travelling on same Virgin Australia flight and present boarding pass. All access is subject to space availability. This benefit is subject to change.

Thanks but found on the velocity website you can if the guest is travelling with you, using a silver member single pass which I also have.
Would assume the AMEX pass would be the same.

Making assumptions can lead to disappointment.

Have you read the T&C relating to lounge access on your Amex?

What Amex do you have?

See my previous post regarding the Platinum Amex Charge Card.....

Virgin Lounges are only accessible by Lounge members.

To become a member you can pay annual fee, or get Velocity Gold or platinum status in which case you get complimentary membership of lounge.

Only Lounge members can bring guests FOC according to this schedule:
Virgin Lounge and Velocity Gold can bring one guest (but guests do not need to travel on an airplane)
Velocity Platinum can bring 3 guests (and guests do not need to travel on an airplane)
Plus virgin lounge, gold and platinum can bring additionally 2 kids under age 12 in addition to the guests.
Otherwise guests can come in for one off charge of $65
Guests do not need to travel on VA to enter lounge with their hosts when they are Virgin Lounge members, Gold or platinum.

Velocity silver are NOT lounge members so cannot bring in Guests as detailed above. BUT they have 2 preloaded lounge passes which they can use for themselves and anyone else they are flying together with. But One lounge pass per head. Once both lounge passes are used then there is no further entry.

Platinum Amex Charge Card Holders have complimentary entry but their guests have to be travelling with them on a sameday VA flight. See Plat amex Charge Card excerpt T&C in above post.

Members’ Guests

Virgin Australia Lounge members and Velocity Gold members may invite one accompanying guest to the Virgin Australia Lounge at no charge. Guests do not need to be travelling with Virgin Australia to join members. Additional guests will be charged $65 at the lounge reception.
Velocity Platinum members may be accompanied by up to three guests at no charge.

Well this isn't accurate - casual entry for non lounge members can also be purchased for $65 pp from the lounge dragon at the reception desk (for use in a domestic lounge up to two hours before your VA departure).

Correct!

My understanding is that non members may enter by either:

Free entry:
Following a silver velocity passenger / platinum amex velocity card holder in who gives them a one time lounge pass
Folowing a member in who has a paid up annual membership to the Virgin Lounge, or following a gold/platinum frequent flyer, or platinum amex charge card holder

$65:
Following a silver velocity passenger/ plat amex velocity who have one lounge pass for themselves but does not have a lounge pass to give to guest,
Following a Virgin Lounge/gold/platinum/plat amex passenger who has exceeded their guest allowance.
Paying as a walkup not more than 2 hours before their VA flight

So Va Lounge is for members, but non members can pay a walkup fee. By paying a walkup fee you become a casual member. Sort of like the pubs in Utah before the Olympics there. A pub/club could only serve alcohol to members. The loophole was that to be a member all you had to do was pay $1 and get a temp members card. Its more relaxed now.

I've just got my Amex platinum velocity credit card with the 2 included single lounge passes. Amex weren't very clear as to how my access would work - whether I'd get mailed the Passes or they'd be loaded onto my membership.

I'd be interested in other Velocity platinum Amex credit card holders' experience with this so I can make necessary arrangements before I next fly.

I'm assuming one pass is good for one entry so if I bring a guest we can both enter and use one of the passes each?

See above posts in this thread.

One single entry pass per head whatever the head is called.
Guests get complimentary entry without needing a pass only if they are accompanied by Virgin Lounge paid up member/gold/platinum/platinum amex charge card passenger.

As usual the caveat is subject to capacity restrictions. So Va lounge may restrict entry if its full (i.e. at licensed capacity).

i spoke to velocity today, they advised me that its only one single entry or one passenger, however for silver members its different you can bring in a complimentary guest? though these single passes are on my velocity card which is red, still a little confused..

I had Amex and Silver passes on my account a few months ago. Went into the lounge with a guest and they said, "I'll use both the Amex passes instead of the silver passes because they're due to expire first." (Granting both myself and the guest entry) I assume it would be no different if you were red with just Amex passes on the account.

If you got your lounge passes from a credit card, then they are single-entry passes and it doesn't matter what your Velocity status is red or silver. If you have 2, you can use 1 for yourself and 1 for another guest.

On the other hand, it's gold and platinum members who can normally bring in complimentary guests based on their status, and that's unrelated to single-entry passes.

yes makes a lot more sense now, i was hoping i could take a complimentary guest as i am travelling with 2 others economy on my flight return, but going up business class.
