Virgin Blue Frequent Flyer Scheme

Rumours are flying that VB is set to introduce a frequent flyer programme in 2005. Am interested to find out if loyal Qantas FF would consider making the switch to VB for their domestic travel (if not already done so!), especially after Qantas's "revamping" of their FF scheme??

An alternative option should be to join both schemes and evaluate which one has be better points generating power.

For me, Virgin will have to make some major in-roads in the CC market to be able to do this. as Virgin already has a CC this will be an issue when they want to co-brand with another CC company.

Customer loyalty can be pushed around a lot (as seen with Qantas) but I find that the benefits of having multiple channels of earning points and the hassle of changing CC's will stick me in the Qantas side for now.

Give VB a few years and more strategic alliances and I'll seriously consider it.

Thanks to everyone who voted. Even though the number of votes was relatively low, I had predicted that most QFF will be willing to read the finer detail of any possible future VBFF Scheme and then decide on their preferred airline accordingly.

Thanks danielh for your response. I didn't think about any CC incentives that VB will have to establish to intice people to their scheme when I first posted the poll. Although I would believe that their current Virgin credit card might act similar to the ANZ Frequent Flyer card (ie 1 point per 1$ credited directly into the FF account) and probably the ability to earn and redeem points when flying Virgin Atlantic. Any thoughts??

I did not reply to the poll. I probably would have if there was an option like Would have to discern what would benefit me the most.

I could not respond to the option nearest to this Would fly with the airline offering the best FF scheme as this would not always influence me. There are other variables that need to be factored in, such as lounge offerings & access.

Yes, good point Serfty. Lounge offerings and access would definitely come into play and may have changed the results of the vote. Will keep it in mind for any future poll (possibly on the release of VB FF scheme).
