Virgin Blue A330 J class, ATR and new uniform details

You reach the point where the lack of answers, despite supposed "engagement" on AFF does more harm than good (IMHO). i dont know if it's a matter of "tough crowd", but more that it is (on frequent travel) an educated group, who dont like being misled / strung along.

Dont get me wrong, i'm excited that DJ is launching a J class (whether it's 2 or 3 in the middle), but i'm losing the excitement with the drawn out way all this is being released. This includes the rebranding, the aircraft without paint jobs, the flippant responses to our questions. By the time J calss and the branding is here, i'll be over it totally. Rather than looking forward to the product.

Respect is a two way street.

Hi Doc,
Firstly let me say that any responses here were never meant to be taken flippantly or that there is no respect for the AFF community.
On the contrary, your opinions count for alot, as CrazyDave has also mentioned on numerous occasions.
Respect IS a two way street, and I can assure you that we are travelling on the same side as you!

The seat config of our business class is an important piece of information, as seen by how many comments on what it will be by AFF'ers. As such you have to understand why we wouldn't reveal final details before it is on sale.

As others have said, there is a rollout of changes to our airline that will happen by June (as stated in the ASX presentation).

Sorry to say but our plan is to release information on products and services, stage by stage. Hopefully there will be enough over this period to keep you interested.

Without sounding like a proper tease, we are all very excited about what we have building here!

I agree with docjames. This extended bit-by-bit release of news is getting to be annoying. Why even tell use about your A330's? Why not wait until you were actually selling the seats on them before releasing that bit of news?

Under BG, there were aspects of DJ that were almost childish. Now we are playing that old school yard game "I've got a secret" with a drip feed of news.

You want them to tip off everyone here, their competitors, and anyone else who is listening market/ commercially sensitive information before it is in their interests to do so because you personally find it annoying that they haven't announced all the details of a product that isn't even on sale yet?

Yes, as a regular DJ flyer there's a whole lot of things i would love to know the answer to: Where will the new lounges be, what will the new 737 J product be, what will the changes they make to Velocity involve, who if anyone will be their new Asian partner, when will the Air NZ deal be finalised and how comprehensive will it be being just a few of them. However, there's a perfectly good reason why they don't they announce these things before they are ready to implement them.

Surely the commercial/ tactical/ practical reasons why they don't blurt this information on request to people in these threads are kinda obvious?

777.

As for the shoes off during the flight, I have to ask, "What the hell?!!" I hope you are lying, because if that is true then not only is that grossly unprofessional, I would be asking if that is against OHS.

Why would I lie about this?

No way - really? I've seen the QF girls slip out of towering heels into flats on board.... Are you sure you didn't see similar? Did they keep their socks on?

Really. She had stockings on, but no shoes.

But that has always been the Virgin way. The art of the tease.

My guess is that a lot of things aren't yet locked away, and by not announcing things they can change.

While I would like to know the details as much as anyone else, the reps frequenting this board won't be in a position to do anything but send the feedback about peoples frustrations up the chain.

Let me tell you... I am VERY interested in the details of DJ's new J product. I'd also like to have all the information right away.

However.... AFF members. Please do not berate the DJ reps who are on AFF.

They are giving the information as and when they are able. Also please remember that this is often done in their own time.

Their contribution on this forum is valuable, and IMHO, a privilige we should not be taking for granted.

There is as much berating for all of the company reps, including Red Roo and QFCSA (and some others, although to a lesser extent).

I have to take my hat off for their bravery if anything. No one comes to work everyday more than them to have their integrity and that of the company they worked for attacked so much as here.

What!We are worse than FT!:(
Goes into back room:confused:
Takes out gun
Chickens out

Really. She had stockings on, but no shoes.

Then you should let he company know about it, including date and flight number. No-one should be at work anywhere in bare feet. Especially not individuals working in food service.

But unless you let the right people know, it may happen again.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Reading back some of this thread, in particular comments by others, I feel my previous posts were possibly seen as personal attacks. I felt at the time they were not, but have taken the feedback that they may be construed that way. If they were construed that way by Virgin Blue (or any DJ rep) then I apologise unreservedly.

I trust you have also taken the feedback on board that for an important topic such as this (rebrand/fleet update etc), some of the replies were (IMO) flippant but again, not meant that way.

At the topic at hand, I guess there's market research that says the marketing and sales benefit of the drip feed outweighs the negatives. :) Clearly not one for me, but as long as i'm in the minority, well and good. Hopefully once the whole package is complete, i'm so wowed as to move all my flying to DJ!:)

Reading along, I just keep thinking that good things come to those that wait.
:D

Flew Adelaide to Melbourne tonight (now waiting for that fabulous  1.05 am SQ flight to SIN). This was my first flight since the new uniform, and I have to say I am impressed, not only with the actual uniforms, but I had the sense that the crew felt good too! There was something far more snappy and professional with the whole flight!

I have been a long time DJ flyer, but things are getting better each day! Drip feed all you like... that way I can enjoy each change as they come online!

Any attempt to look more professional is quickly cancelled out by crew removing their shoes during the flight, as happened on Friday night.

I hope they didn't rest their feet on the bulkhead, too ;)

Here's to providing you more information when we can - and having you flying DJ 100%!

PS did we just have a virtual group hug? ;)

Don't you think it is better than the 1970s paisley styling of qantas :?:
Not really.

I don't mind the styling of Qantas' uniforms. There is still a touch of conservative look in the uniforms and despite what people on AFF have to say there are a growing number of good looking FA's on QF that make the uniforms look very good. ;)

Now red and red is not really a colour that grows on people. I used to wear yellow jeans and red jeans when I was 17 back in early 1980's but quickly grew out of that fashion trend.

At least DJ/VA staff no longer look like they're dressed by Australia Zoo!

The addition of the tie is a HUGE improvement in making the crew look more professional.

4 x A330's is a slow start.......

An order for 10-15 B787's would get me excited

The A330s will be close to retirement by the time the 787 could be delivered anyway, I suspect thanks to the ongoing delays with the new designs, short notice widebody deliveries are hard to get.
