Well I won't get too used to row 3 ... Just checked in and my SYD-MEL flight was cancelled - so CI moved me to next flight, and 1D!! Seeing that rows 1 & 2 are now completely blocked as PE, does this now mean food is included? Ie. I have therefore been properly upgraded, rather than just seated in PE?

You've just been moved into a better seat. Don't expect any food or IFE. The cabin crew know you are not a paying PE customer...

I've been in 1 & 2 D mutiple times and even as a velocity gold, was asked if I wanted to purchase food.

Nevertheless, having extra legrooom was great!!

I believe in order to get the FULL premium service, if you have been moved to rows 1 & 2, is if an actual full fare paying PE guest is sat next to you.

That's what has happened to me before, but I thought seeing as rows 1 & 2 are now "PE Only" and the check in lady actually used the word "upgraded" I thought maybe they've changed the policy (particularly as I'm also Velocity Gold and was on the full Corporate Plus fare).

Unfortunately not - still the standard service - and it was one of the rogue aircraft with fixed arms, narrow seats - they have put in a fixed tray on the middle seats, but even so the seats were still awfully uncomfortable!

I was also disappointed to find out the pie is only available on flights over 2 hours! Was looking forward to it

Me too. Now I need to book a flight to Melbourne just to try it!!

I've got a BNE-MEL later in the year, so will have to wait until then! Or I could just pop down to the local bakery to get my fix!

Haven't you heard Richard Brandson say "Everything is a lot cooler at 35,000ft?" ;)

Yeah that's true - like the first time I got to use in-flight Wi-Fi (on Virgin America of course) - I emailed/facebooked everyone to tell them I was emailing them from a plane, but didn't really do anything else productive!

Look what I saw at bay 40 today...

o Row 3, all the 737 (and im now told the Embraer fleet) will be configured with business class as of the next 737 delivery (including sky interior) followed by the rogue aircraft VUR-X this is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year...
I'm told that the first 737 with the new sky interior and the new J class layout will be VH-YFC,it's due in Australia in early April.
Cheers

VERY much looking forward to the Sky Interior!

A big step forward for the 737 as the interior just feels so dated when compared to the A320.

Will definitely be trying to on one of her first flights, and that will be a challenge me thinks!

I understand that several of the older 737's will be going off lease over the next few weeks, apparently on their way to Malaysia for repainting and on to new owners,(Indeed I think some have already gone )after YFC the next new 737 will be VH-YFE which I believe is due either late April or early May,I have also been told that YFC may arrive in the new livery but I'm unable to confirm this at this stage ,it may well be yet another all white delivery until such time as DJ decide to launch the new branding.
Cheers

If I was DJ I would be using the Sky Interior plane to launch the new livery, new business class on the 737 and the new everything!

I'm making an effort to be on that aircraft too! Looking forward to trying BSI!

In the process of burning some qf points on some jasas, I was thinking about DJ, j class and pricing. Not sure if this is the right thread, but wondering if there is an opportunity in the market to have "Tiered" j class pricing, ie a non-flexible J seat, pricedclose to full fare y, with a premium then to fully flexible j class tickets.

Qf currently only offers on "tier" of j, with 4 "tiers" of y.

No doubt this has been considered, but a non-flex j seat would appeal to a sub segment of the market not currently catered for by qf.

Good idea - kind of similar to the Instant Upgrade fares in the US. Would definitely like to see this (from QF too!)

I find my budget does not allow for business class so I would welcome this with open arms.

Although you're talking about DJ, there's usually about what, $150-$200 difference between QF J and Corporate Plus for a domestic YBBN - YSSY... maybe have the Red-E deal rules, baggage etc and add $200 for the business seat. Wouldn't that be great! If you want lounge access, tack on another $30-$50 like DJ are doing.

There are many people I know wouldn't hesitate spending that kind of money for a business seat. All the flexibility options for me personally (and probably others) go to waste.

I actually put forward this very suggestion in a Jetstar survey, no response.

If Virgin really wants to take the Business market away from Qantas this could be the way. If it ever happens I've found my new airline of choice.
