Just booked MEL-BNE for ANZAC long weekend next year. $274 one way in J is a bargain.
What routes/dates?There are some flights for similar period next year where there is no Lite or Choice fares available.
But how much to come back again?Just booked MEL-BNE for ANZAC long weekend next year. $274 one way in J is a bargain.
OOL-MEL. 25/04.What routes/dates?
Can do the same price. $299 in J before discount across multiple routes/dates.But how much to come back again?
Simply amazing.OOL-MEL. 25/04.
BNE-MEL. 25/04 - Business at $299. Flex at $439. No Lite. No Choice. Across all 13 flights on the day.

Not so amazing for my wallet…at $275 it is hard to say no!Simply amazing.
It's almost worth traveling to MEL in order to take advantage of that fare! Somewhat less than the 96,000 points they wanted for SYD - BNE one way they asked for recently. Not so amazing for my wallet…at $275 it is hard to say no!
I paid $1,015 return. It's almost worth traveling to MEL in order to take advantage of that fare! Somewhat less than the 96,000 points they wanted for SYD - BNE one way they asked for recently.
Agree with this - I went to book return BNE-MEL for 25/1-26/1 and aside from irritating routings through SYD, the cheapest by far was Business for $299 each way with no Lite or Choice available. Might even make Gold for the first time as a result. There is definitely something weird going on though I reckon. There are some flights for similar period next year where there is no Lite or Choice fares available. Only craxy $$ Flex, and cheap business. I just can't imagine economy is booked that solid this far out. Maybe I am wrong.
Doesn't make sense at all. On flights I was looking at Qantas had fares for $175 where Virgin cheapest economy was like $450.Agree with this - I went to book return BNE-MEL for 25/1-26/1 and aside from irritating routings through SYD, the cheapest by far was Business for $299 each way with no Lite or Choice available. I am not complaining are you?Just looking to head to SYD for a weekend in February. Saturday 25/2 BNE-SYD is $299 for LITE Y and $299 in J for most flights...what gives??
When you only want to spend $100 each way on a short hop with a family of 4...then yes is an issue.I am not complaining are you?
As per @travelislife not particularly wanting to drop $600 on a SYD return when $200-300 as a WP in Y will suffice...I am not complaining are you?
It's all about yield management. All the cheaper seats will have been sold leaving only the dearer ones remaining. Same issue is I looked for HBA-MEL at the end of next week and $300 would have been cheap compared to what is available. As per @travelislife not particularly wanting to drop $600 on a SYD return when $200-300 as a WP in Y will suffice...

Understand that it would be about yield management, however it just seems to be quite strange that Y is chockas and J is not. REX is showing up at $109/129 which made it all the more peculiar...It's all about yield management. All the cheaper seats will have been sold leaving only the dearer ones remaining. My original comment related to the fact the J seats were relatively cheap.
Didn't even think about that. We'll be there for James Morrison at the Zoo, and to catch up with friends and family.WorldPride 2023. More specifically, Mardi Gras
Normally I'd agree with that. But I seriously don't think that is the case this time. When you have 13 flights in a day with no Lite or Choice fares 6 months out and the other airlines offering $150 economy seats it doesn't add up.It's all about yield management. I can find plenty of Lite and Flex fares on random days. I still think they sell out quickly which is why you aren't seeing them all the time. Without researching more fare classes vs fare types.Normally I'd agree with that. But I seriously don't think that is the case this time.
